What precisely are the requirements for filing for deadbeat credits, should the need arise?

I need to know specifically, what info must be submitted.

I want to know this BEFORE I list anything at Auctions.com

The reason it is very important to factually file for all fvf credits -- even if they are only 20-cents, is that years hence, if the IRS audits you, they will contend that you have not reported full income, because the computer records at online auctions show a differrent amount of completed sales.

Such a scenario could be very expensive.

When I do happen to file any FVF credits at another place, it takes a couple HOURS just to find the miserable info they demand, as I did not set up my bookkeeping to include things like, "userid" -- I only recorded the email addie & real life name for identification purposes.

I have DOZENS of fvfs I haven't filed because it is tooooooooo depressing to do so.

Anyway, precisely what all does the email requesting a fvf have to contain?

Thanks.

I understand your concern about FVF's.

Typically, you simply make a refund request from service. The key information is your assertion that the transaction did not complete and the auction number.

You are also encouraged, although not required, to place negative feedback for the buyer who failed to complete the purchase.

The credits show up as a Comm refund: on the account statement followed by the auction number.

BidSafe checks are also listed as being paid (and the date paid) on the account statement.

As the money man in "All That Jazz" said when informed that the show could close and make a profit without having every opened... It's all very clear to me.

If it is not so clear to you, let me know.

Pat

I really don't think that it will be that big of an issue, particularly if you allow payment via bidsafe only.

I can understand if you simply need the Auction Number.

Are U sure it's that simple?

Elsewhere they need email addie, userid, auction #, amount of credit requested ---- there are items here that I do NOT make a permanent record of, so requesting fvfs has been VERY time consuming, and downright MADDENING, as I know full well they TRIED to make this hard.

It's pathetic that anybody needs pennies and dimes and nickels soooooo much that they are endangering many members of the general public to IRS audits in the near future.

Radh:

You know, it may be more complicated but it shouldn't be.

I'm going to have to ask [email protected] if they have any other requirements.

BTW: listing fees -- which in our case limited only to bold face, italic and showcase upgrades -- aren't refundable.

The information is all presented at the information at "my account."

I suppose also that it may depend on whether the auction is a dutch auction or not.

Let me get back to you on that for a definitive answer.
