Why isn't Actions.com on the list for AW so we can easily put our images and counters into them. By the way I think BidSafe is a great idea and I signed up yesterday. I have to admit that you have glitches in your sign up process though. Took over 3 hours to get response back to open account then it had mistakes. Had to do it all over again. I sure hope you have the traffic to generate sales

Hi Markmeister:

Welcome aboard!

First, thanks for your endorsement of BidSafe. We feel it is the best way auction sellers have of accepting credit cards. It less expensive, it has no per-charge minimum and it offers blanket insurance for every item shipped as the result of an auctions.com transaction.

Second, you asked why we aren't in the "que" of sites in the auctionwatch send-to auction program. Two basic reasons come to mind.

The answer is a bit more complex.

First, unlike most other sites, you have to logon to auctions.com before you can fill out the list-auction form.

Other sites offer their listing functionality "outside" the "firewall," meaning that auctionwatch's listing form here will work. You send the auction to the other sites and then confirm that action with your username and password.

Bottom line, this means we would have to exchange user name and password information over the Internet to allow third party sites such as auctionwatch to do this type of listing.

When we came up with our programming scheme, we honestly didn't forsee services such as auctionwatch flourishing. (We opened in November 1997 and, to my recollection, the first message posted on auctionwatch was in July, 1998. They didn't initiate their "send to" auction function until early 1999.)

Given that history, I think you can understand there is a bit of resistance amongst our internal programmers to making this type of fundemental change. (Personally, I've been asking for it for some time.)

Of course, because we aren't part of the systems such as those offered by auctionwatch, means that we don't have any listings coming from this source.

On top of that, since it is not available, only the small portion of those that use our site use auctionwatch services.

Yes, I'd call this a chicken and the egg proposition. Users need to ask for this functionality more often. The proper place to make this request?

[email protected]

I hope we get a hundred requests!

Pat

Markmeister:

The credit card issue may have to do with internet infrastructure and internal procedures on a holiday.

I assume you've posted [email protected] with this issue. If not, you do need to post them. Go ahead and cc: me and I'll make sure it gets the attention of those whose job it is to do that.

Oh, yeah, the traffic report.

Our traffic is significant
What do I mean by significant? We're a private company so this information is proprietary but our total page views weekly are between 1 million and 10 million.

Further, site traffic is increasing and will be increasing even more!

Among our more recent big advertising deals are:

We now have the shopping channel sponsorship on the new search engine www.iwon.com which I now use instead of yahoo for general Internet searches. (Hey, I might win a million dollars)

Our advertising agreement with the Premier Radio Network is also cranking up either this week or next. This will include spots on nationally syndicated radio programs such as Dr. Laura's show and the Rush Limbaugh program ... and the Best of Art Bell, etc.

We also have some things in store that I can't mention at this point but I'd bet you'll like it when you hear it.

I'm starting to get a few bids on Auctions.com - but, it sure is a pain to have to sign in every time you turn around! Also, I've got about 5 hang-over auctions from Auction Universe, which, when contacted a final time, said they "lost" auction universe with the name change!

Hi Buysell4:

Let me ask if you've started using "myauctions.com" The URL is: http://www.auctions.com/au/acenter.asp?sv=&idx=

This is really a great tool and is quite easy to use.

You'll be presented a series of "options" on this page. You should choose, Edit and Manage your listings or you can just click right here:http://www.auctions.com/au/member_auction_info.asp?sv=&idx=

You will be asked to log-in here and may also be asked if you want to store your preferences in a cookie. (I'm not sure on this last because it's been so long since I said yes)

You'll then be presented with all auctions you've listed within the past 90 days. You can relist from here.

You can also find your previous auctions (up to 90 days old) by searching for them in "Advanced search." http://www.auctions.com/au/search.asp?sv=&idx=

If the auction is older than that and you have the auction number, send me that number and I'll send you the URL to find it.
