Has anyone noted that their Amazon auctions just aren't getting many vewings?

I had noted that some of my auctions just weren't doing anything. I placed counters on these particular auctions and noted that they simply aren't being visited by anyone.

These are well laid out auctions with excellent pictures and fair prices.

What's wrong? Has everyone gone home for the hollidays?

I've noticed the same thing. After Amazon introduced their zShops, the bidding on my items just vanished. I didn't do anything differently, so I was puzzled as to the cause. If you visit the Amazon board, there are more threads on this very issue. Some people are reporting increased bidding, but I haven’t noticed it on my auctions. In fact, I let my entire batch of auctions end a few days ago. I’ll try Amazon again next year. It’s not worth listing there right now, at least for me.

I wanted to add that my last two auctions were for books (14 day auctions). I started them at 1 cent each with actual Book Rate shipping at $1.58. There were no takers.

When I transferred those two books to Yahoo!, they both got good bids within the first 24 hours of listing them. I've been doing much better at Yahoo! than Amazon, and it's totally free at Yahoo! However, there are more deadbeats there, so I have to spend extra time dealing with them.

Hi folks:

Most of the above threads are about amazon and yahoo which I know is a bit weird as this is the auctions.com forum.

I guess the thing that did catch my eye, though, was the idea of the hassels involved with deadbeats on yahoo and the general lack of action amazon.

Deadbeats are always a pain and the only way I've found to avoid them is to require credit card payment using BidSafe on auctions.com.

Other than listing the auction and specifying BidSafe as the only payment form, there is little extra to do until you get a BidSafe confirmation to ship.

This system virtually eliminates EOA email dance and only rarely does one even post a buyer. All you do is print out a label and ship on confirmation.

This may be a possible on amazon with z-shop One-click payment but I don't think you can specify one-click as the only payment form.

Also, the cost of the transaction are much lower on auctions.com as the "credit card" service only costs 3.5 percent total. There's no 70 cent minimum and amazon's rate is 4.5 percent of the total as well.

This simply means that it is feasible to sell items that cost less than $50.00 using the system without to total of auction fees being 15-20 percent or more of the total cost.

(At auctions.com, the total is less than 6% across the board from $1.00 to $1000 and like Yahoo, there is no basic listing fee.)

Well - things have gone down terribly at Amazon - but we are cleaning up on Yahoo - using the "Buy Price" and closing sales all day - have a friend who is doing the same. My elder son is closing 40 to 50 a day on Yahoo. Naturally, our better items are doing well as usual on eBay.

We have written Amazon telling them that we will be dropping our "Pro Merchant" account if there is a major turn around in their market.

This weekend we closed our account with Auctions.com because of continual lack of activity on items which were selling well on eBay and Yahoo.

We have tested a great many auctions, but after over at year at Auctions.com have decided that it is not going to pick up and simply is a waste of our time to post.....it is sad because Auctions.com has a wonderful format.

Have found Box Lot & Lycos with some action.

Regarding "dead beats" I use to run in to a good many on Yahoo, but that trend has changed for us in the last 2 months - seldom get a dead beat - and when we do, just chalk it up to Yahoo is FREE - so haven't lost much, simply relist the auction.
