When I set this field in my preferences does that automatically add the insurance to the calculated amount or do I need to do it manually at check out?
Thanks
When your insurance is set to be required and calculated, it will automatically be calculated and added to the post-sale (there is no need to calculate the insurance manually).

Thanks Nathan
So if they use the calculator during the auction the insurance is already added? In other words it's not just added at the end of the auction?
The insurance costs are not added immediately to the shipping costs. The shipping costs will be calculated separately from the insurance costs, and these costs will be displayed separately in checkout.

I don't use Vendio checkout now as I was getting in trouble with the winner giving a different address there from their paypal confirmed address.
So I guess the only way I can do it is to add it to my mark up.
Thanks anyway
You should be able to use calculated shipping and calculated insurance, even if you don't use Vendio checkout (as long as you are specifying shipping costs for eBay checkout).

Can you tell me where to go to set that up?
I use flat rate sometimes and calculated other times - can I still set it up to work under those conditions.
Thanks
To set the default to specify shipping costs for eBay checkout (for future new listings), go to "My Account" --> "eBay" (below "Site Specifics" ) --> "eBay Shipping and Payment Details" --> select "I am specifying shipping costs for eBay checkout".
Please note that if you are specifying shipping and payment details for eBay checkout, you must use fixed insurance rates if you are using fixed shipping (due to eBay rules).
