Why is it that when I am preparing a listing, I fill in Custom Item Specifics, but if I save it and don't launch it right away, and then go back to launch it, I have to fill in Custom Item Specifics again???????

Hello,

Do you have an example where this is happening, so that we can take a look?

Regards,
Nathan

I just tried to launch an auction and had it all filled in but it came back with an error so when I relaunched it the Specifics weren't in there but I relaunched it anyway as am tired of putting it in.

Hello,

What was the error message that was returned? Just to be clear, is the problem that you are creating a listing with Custom Item Specifics, saving the listing, and then when you open the listing again the Custom Item Specifics are not there?

Or is the problem that you are creating a listing with Custom Item Specifics, launching the listing, the listing fails with an error, and then when you open the errored listing the Custom Item Specifics are not there?

Regards,
Nathan

The error message has been on a few of my listings but as suggested by you'all I just list again and it goes thru.

Yes, "the problem that you are creating a listing with Custom Item Specifics, saving the listing, and then when you open the listing again the Custom Item Specifics are not there?"

Hello,

Okay. Let's start by looking at a pending listing that has this problem that you have not yet launched. Please provide the name of a pending listing that you created with Custom Item Specifics, then saved the listing, and now the Custom Item Specifics are not there, so that we can take a look. Also, please provide the specific Custom Item Specifics that you had setup in the listing, so that we can attempt to duplicate the problem.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks Nathan - I don't have a pending listing that I want to launch right now, but will do one tomorrow and get back to. Thanks a lot

Nathan - what I will do is "just" before I launch, I will fill in the Custom Item Specifics. That should work. thanks

Hello,

It does sound like that will be a successful workaround. However, it would be helpful if you could let us know how to duplicate the problem (that way we can ask our engineers to take a look). I tried to duplicate the problem in your account by taking the following steps:

1. I created a new listings, using the category 48820. (It looks like you have listed in this category before.)
2. I filled in the Custom Item Specific information.
3. I saved the listing.
4. I went back into the pending listing, and the Custom Item Specifics were still there.

If possible, could you provide us with the exact steps that you are taking when you run into this problem? Or the name of a pending listing where the problem has happened? That way we can hopefully duplicate the problem.

Regards,
Nathan

Villeroy & Boch PALERMO Pink Morning Glory SALT PEPPER

The exact steps - I fill in the CIS and then save as am not ready to launch. When I go back in the CIS are not filled in and I have to do it again before I actually launch

Hello,

I added Custom Item Specifics to this pending listing, saved the listing, and then when I went back into the listing the Custom Item Specifics were still there. Please go into the listing and let me know if they are still showing for you.

Also, please confirm that this is a completely new listing (rather than a relist).

Regards,
Nathan

Yes, they were there when you saved it, but then I saved it again and went back and they were not there. Go figure????

Yes this is a completely new listing that has never been launched or relisted.

Hello,

That is very odd. If you haven't already, please try clearing your browser cache and see if that makes any difference. If it does not, please try using a different browser and let us know whether or not it gives you the same results.

Nathan

neil35, you are not alone.

I have also had this happen. In fact, I have one particular profile item (Natural Blue Topaz) that sometimes holds the Custom Item Specifics and sometimes not.

At first I thought I just didn't remember correctly about filling it in; but after I used the profile over a dozen times, I finally realized it must be some weird glitch.

It has become an adventure every time I use that profile, wondering what I will find.

Regards,
Susan

This often happens to me too. Some days everything errors out and some days they go through. I have several threads about this

I cleared my cache and just tried to list 2 auctions. Both came back as "error"

Now what??

Also the CIS aren't showing again.

Hello,

Is this happening only when you create a new listing using a profile? If so, what is the name of one of the profiles where you are having this problem?

Nathan

NOT SURE what you mean by "profile"

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. I believe Neglus and Wgonzales are referring to a similar problem that has been escalated to our engineers, that tends to affect profile items (although it also affects some relists). That problem also tends to return an "Internal Database Failure" error.

However, I do see that you do not have any saved profile items, the problem is happening prior to launch (so there is no error message), and these are completely new listings. Did you try saving the listing using a different browser? Did it give you the same problem? Also, please confirm whether or not this is happening every time you save an item with CIS and then go back to launch it (or is it only happening some times?).

Regards,
Nathan

still don't know what a "profile" item is

I am listing without the CIS and they go thru fine. I will list the next one shortly with the CIS and see what happens.

Hello,

No need to worry about what a profile item is. I can see that you don't use them. The specific information that I need from you is:

1. Do you have this same problem when using a different internet browser to create, save, and reopen listings?

2. Is this happening every time you save an item with CIS and then go back to launch it later? Or is this only happening sometimes when you save an item with CIS and then go back to launch it later?

Regards,
Nathan

OK, here is what just happened 2 minutes ago.

I launched the auction with the CIS then I saved it and went back in and the CIS wasn't there.

I then entered the CIS again and launched it and up comes the error message.

I have Fire Fox

Now I got out of Vendio thru Fire Fox and went into Internet Explored, entered the CIS and saved it and went back in and it was still there.

So then I launched it thru IE and it went thru.

IE is so slow. I would rather use FF and just not enter the CIS.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. It does appear to be a similar problem as the one that Neglus and Wgonzales have reported. I have passed the information that you provided to our engineers, and asked them for an update. Hopefully the new information will help them determine the cause of the problem.

Regards,
Nathan

Hello,

In the meantime, you might want to try the following Firefox add-on as a work around (it allows you to open a tab in Firefox that works like IE). I'm not sure that it will solve the problem for you, but it is worth a try.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Nathan
