Now that eBay is requiring the use of the information in the eBay catalog for certain categories, how do I access it from the Create Listing page in Sales Manager? I don't want to have to revise every auction I launch from here to add these details when I should be able to do it from the Create Listing page prior to launch. Thanks.

Hello,

To use the eBay pre-fill catalog, you would need to switch over to the Inventory Edition of the Sales Manager where the catalog matching tools are already in place and available for use.

You can switch to the Inventory Edition from the following page: https://secure.vendio.com/my/acct/change_sm_edition.html?smme=1

Note that there is no cost difference between the versions of the Sales Manager.

Chris

Hi Chris, so what are the differences in appearance? I've been using ME for such a long time, I'm not sure I want to change editions and go through all the trouble just for the few times I happen to list in the eBay categories that require the catalog. Can't you just add the catalog to ME...it appears that more people use it when I look at the discussion board posts.

Hello,

It is a much different layout initially when you view it, but the fields that you enter the date into are the same. While it's unlikely we'd be able to build the catalog matching system into the merchandising edition of the Sales Manager, we are looking into the possibility for the future. Most of our users are on the Inventory Edition currently, but if you rarely post into those categories, it may be simpler to list the item and then edit if you do not want to try the inventory edition.

Note that if you do try it, you can switch back if you don't like it. Just make the switch before listing any items under the other platform.

Chris

I also seldom use the affected categories, but do occassionaly list textbooks. I use the merchandising edition and have no need of the inventory version.
I have had no problem in the past revising textbook listings after launch in order to include the eBay specifics. But my question is: will the items in these categories even launch so that I can edit to comply with eBay's requirement or will they fail to launch because they are not being launched with the catalog specifics?

Thanks,
Susan

Hello Susan,

Nothing will prevent the items from listing, they are just trying to push users to listing items this way instead when possible. That isn't to say they won't make it impossible to list at some point in the future though - you know how they like to change things on a regular basis.

Chris

Thank, Chris.

Hopefully they won't make listing textbooks impossible till after my kids are both done with college!
