On some listings, others they work fine. If I end a listing and relist it, without changes, the click to enlarge images usually start working again.

This listing, they are not working.

The cost of relisting these store items is minimal, and that is not a concern. What is a concern is that potential customers who have put the item on their watch list don't always retain watch when they are ended and relisted, and I don't know they aren't working so items may not get purchased because the pictures aren't working.

Hello,

Have you noticed by chance that it only happens on items showing as having been edited since originally launched? The image links seem to be pointing to the eBay revise your item form, which can happen sometimes when you use the eBay HTML editor to make revisions to your listing after it's initially posted.

Chris

I haven't noticed, but if that is the case, how do I fix it, or prevent it from happening when I need to do an edit?

Hello,

In order to avoid this problem when revising listings, please be sure not to change/edit/revise the image HTML code. If changes are made to the image HTML code, then the images can stop appearing correctly.

Nathan

Well, that is not the issue. I never make changes to the image HTML code, and rarely make HTML changes at all. Probably haven't done that in a couple years. I do make changes using the WYSIWYG editor sometimes, but not to the images.

In addition to the listing I linked as an example, these other listings also have click to enlarge photos that do not work.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-Rickenbacker-360-12-String-Electric-Hollow-Guitar-OHSC-Clean-Minty-Fireglo-/230745233113

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Seagull-Artist-Studio-QII-Acoustic-Guitar-Minty-Sunburst-Quantum-II-/370582641855

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roland-TD-12-Electronic-Drum-Module-Tested-Works-Perfectly-Ex-Cond-TD-12-/230746391434

And I'm going to stop right there, because I just discovered something. This listing for the Roland TD-12 had click to enlarge pics working, but it had one of the randomly inserted ? marks I started a thread about a while back in it. I did an edit using eBay's WYSIWYG editor to remove the ? mark, and after the edit the pictures did not enlarge anymore.

I tried doing an edit to put the ? back in the listing where it was, and the photos still did not click to enlarge, but eBay returned an error message:
Current picture copied to eBay

This is how your picture displays in the search results. View the source picture that we used to create it.

We were not able to copy your picture. The server containing your image was unavailable when we tried to retrieve it.

Yet the eBay gallery picture does appear. I went to their photo repair page, and it said the server was not available to retrieve the picture, and still the original picture shows up.

I revised it again, removed the ? and it no longer returned the error message.

Whether this error message was a clue or a temporary glitch I don't know. I tried it again with the listing and it did not repeat.

This listing has click to enlarge photos that are currently working. I need to edit the title, so first I'm going to edit the title, but not touch the sub-title using the WYSIWYG editor.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Fender-Sting-Signature-Precision-Bass-Guitar-54-P-Bass-Tweed-Hard-Case-/230743341396

OK, edit made and it still works.

Now I'm going to edit the title in the description area, using the WYSIWYG editor, but not altering the HTML code, only the text.

-----------------------------

And now they don't work. I just edited the title, the white on black title above the pictures. I did not do this with the HTML editor, just the WYSIWYG.

Sigh...

OK, now this one has a randomly inserted ?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Schecter-Jeff-Loomis-C7-Lefty-Left-Handed-7-String-Electric-Guitar-C-7-/230745220005

I'm going to edit the ? out using the HTML editor, but not the WYSIWYG. Currently, the click to enlarge photos work.

And that time I used the HTML editor, and only removed the ? at the beginning, and the click to enlarge stopped working. Apparently ANY type of edit to the description using eBay's revision tool kills your click to enlarge photos.

There must be a revision to your gallery code that would allow it to function after the ebay description is edited.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. If the problem is only happening after you revise the listing through eBay, then this means the revision that you are making is changing the HTML code for the images in some way. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over how revisions are done through eBay, as these changes do not go through our system.

If you are having trouble with the click-to-enlarge images on any listings that have not been revised through eBay, please let us know one of those listing number so that we can take a look.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan, I would say that other listing services do not have this issue, and since you are attempting to help your customers integrate into eBay, and the issue is specific to Vendio's code, that Vendio needs to find a solution to the issue in order to serve your customers and their needs. It would be ideal if I never made a mistake in a listing or learned that some detail was inaccurate. It would also be great if Vendio never inserted random ?'s in my listings which only serve to confuse my customers and make it look like I don't know what I'm doing.

What I'm hearing is that Vendio's response to your code failing to integrate with eBay is that it's eBay's fault and you can't do anything about it. Is that accurate?
