Is anyone working on this problem for those of us who have webtv? I have not been able to list an auction in almost 2 days. The problem is the same that has been discussed in another thread regarding the CATEGORY/TOP CATEGORY.
The broken blank lines appear and NO categories. Putting the category number in (by remote control) to the right of the CATEGORY box does not help. Could we get some kind of answer on this????
Thank you!

I cannot get an answer to this question by customer service. I also emailed them 36 hrs ago and no response. Is this their way of getting webtvers to stop using AW? If so, it must be working!

Oh great, I just spent 2 hours taking pictures at 3 in the morning and now we can't list???????? The last time they messed things up for web tv it took weeks for them to fix it.I have not listed anything in months and I am ready to list many items. Come on Auctionwatch, please don't do this to us AGAIN.

Jandyaz,
I KNOW JUST HOW YOU FEEL!!!! I listed two sets of auctions last week and they went well. Since Tuesday night I have been trying to list more auctions and can't get past the Category/Top Category blank, broken lines. I tried putting in 1234 (random numbers) in the number category and submitting my auction thinking I could go back and change it. WRONG! I ended up having some TOVA perfume both in pottery and collectibles so I had to cancel the auction completely. This is so frustrating. What is even worse is that AW won't respond. I emailed them thru customer service and have not had the courtesy of a reply.

I think we are in big trouble for sure. You'd think that with the sinking economy that all of us including AW would be willing to do ANYTHING to keep the money rolling. My flag is flying and so am I!!!!!! I have 40 items ready be listed all over my living room. I thought I could make some money the holidays. Uh-oh

I just received a response from eBay customer service and they said the problem appears to be with AW. They can find nothing wrong with the category numbers. Now, I realize that doesn't have anything to do with our problem with the Category/Top Category drop down blank, broken lines, but AW C/S said in the past a lot of these problems have been caused by eBay's Auction for America. Wouldn't it be nice if AW C/S would at least respond to this?????

It would seem to me, given AW's current financial straits, and the number of competing sites that they would be more interested in keeping their customers happy. To ignore the problem of the blank category list for Ebay is inexcusable! Granted, we Webtvers may not be great in number but I would bet there are still quite a few of us. AW's complete lack of response is very disappointing. I have used AW for quite awhile, but am now in the process of learning how to use the competition. This is not by choice but out of necessity. Come on AW, wake up and smell the coffee if you want to survive.

I am ready to scream!!!! I finally got a reply from Brian at AW C/S and he told me to use my remote control to get into the categories..........
These people are NOT reading the messages or emails to them. I specifically told them about the blank, broken lines on the drop-down under Category/Top Category. I said I was using my hand-held remote control to put in a category number, but that wasn't even bringing up any categories on the drop-down.
HOW HARD IS THIS!!!!!!
My email is [email protected]. Would someone please email with alternatives to AW. I have been using AW for image hosting and ebay for the auction itself. After one week of not being able to list an auction I am ready to look elsewhere. Now, it's too late to list Halloween items.

I have been listing auctions on eBay for 3 years. I upgraded from a WebTV Classic to WebTV Plus so that I could post photos. I was happty to find AW that would allow me to post photos with my Web. Together, my daughter & I have oner a 100 auctions to launch. I like AW & would like to stay with them. We are having the same problem. We cannot list our categories. Please fix this problem. My daughter & I plan to make a home business with our auctions. I wrote & received a reply instructing me to use my remote to bring up my manuel typewriter.I have tried this & it doesn't work. I hope that this problem it some fixed as both of us are losing money. Thank you.

It's been one week today since I tried to launch a new auction with no success.
Now I can't even get a response from AW Customer Service.
This isn't right.
They obviously don't care if WEBTVER's use their service.

Hang in there everyone, I know its hard. About this same time last year AW went down for us web tv users and it took three weeks for them to fix it. I did get a responce from AW last night, but all they asked is if I could not get the number in the category box, which is not the problem.I have been looking for another site to use for my auctions, but I have not found one that is as good or easy to use as AW.The only thing I would like to know is if they are ever going to fix it so us web tv users can again use AW or if they have decided not to support us. Please tell us if you intend on working on this problem or if we really should start looking to other auction sites to list our auctions. We will be waiting for that answer from AW and please just tell us as soon as possible. We are all waiting to list and time for making money for xmas is slipping away.If any of you out have found another site for our auctions please let us know.

Hi everybody. Last night I emailed one of the mods from the AW Roundtable board. He apologized and was personally going to notify customer service. Don't know if it will help, since it seems we sre being ignored. AW is having many financial and tech issues from what i have read. Might be seriously time to move on. I am not holding my breath till, or IF they resolve our problem.

I, for one, really appreciate all that everyone is doing to get a response to our questions. We need to know what is happening. We will then have the choice to wait until it is fixed or move on, but we need to know ASAP. It is already too late to list Halloween items and Thanksgiving is fast approaching and of course, Christmas.
Thank you!

Hello everybody,
Please note that we do not offer full support for WebTV because of incompatibility between javascript and the WebTV browser. This has been an ongoing issue for months now, and the workaround has always been to look up the category number from eBay and manually enter it in the category number field.
If you are seeing only blank lines in the category tree, please confirm the category number with eBay by clicking the link under the category list, then enter the number manually using your remote (not the keyboard.)
I hope this helps, and I apologize for the late response to this thread.
Diana

Hi Diana, thanks for getting back with us on this. I have one auction in pending auctions. Would you please take a look at it and tell me if it would launch and be in the Pottery and Glass category? I have entered the category number in the box with my keyboard. What difference does it make between using the remote or the keyboard as long as the number is in the box? I think you are saying as long as the number is in the box we don't need the categories tree, it will know to put it in the correct category by using the correct number. Right?? Please answer fast, I am going crazy here. Thanks for your help!!!

You do not need the Catagory Tree, to list and launch the auctions. I have a Webtv plus, and I can Create Auctions with no problems. I just put the number in the box. I have not been able to use the Catagory drop downs for almost a year, and it works just fine.

Hi jandyaz,
You should still be able to launch to eBay even if the category name does not appear in the tree - if the category number is correct and valid (you can double-check this by using the category listing link) it should launch without a problem.
The reason for asking that you use the on-screen keyboard is that some WebTV users were unable to use the regular keyboard, but were able to enter the category numbers using the remote.
Please let us know if you have any difficulty launching your auctions.
Thanks,
Diana
