Just wondering if someone can tell me what/if any the limit is on images used per auction? I normally use anywhere from 1-4, but I am getting ready to list an auction which will be a 'Lot' of simular items. I plan to use about 10-12 images, will there be any extra fees from AuctionWatch or eBay for that using that many images?? Thanks for your help, debdavis2

Hi Debdavis2,
I don't think there is a limit -- but you probably wouldn't want to put a lot of images on an auction that are large in size. As long as you are adding these images through the "Attach Image" button on the Create Listing page, you should be fine.

You need to realize that the bigger an auction it is the slower it is. I use Front Page 2002 to create my auctions and it tells me how long it will take a person at differnt speeds to load an aution. You put more than one picture and it takes over a minute for people on a dial up connection. be very carful with images. You can lose a lot of business with long load times. I don't think I would wait 1 minute for an auction to load.

I thought ebay had a limit of 3 images per auction. Am I remembering correctly? Have they changed that rule?

I'm a long-time eBay seller and I've used as many as 8 pictures in a listing. Don't like to use that many, but had to in that case. There's no real limit if your photos are inserted as HTML in the description section, as AW photos are. I believe you're limited to 5 or 6 using eBay photo hosting. One big problem with using too many photos is AOL users -- a big percentage of eBay buyers. If the listing loads too slow, AOL "times out" and stops loading, so an AOL user never sees all the pictures. My rule of thumb is to think like the potential buyer -- what images would I like to see, or do I need to see, if I was thinking about bidding on this item? One thing that bugs me as a buyer is multiple pictures of the same view. Give me one good view of it rather than four that show the same thing.

I use a program by ULEAD which modifies photo file sizes which will allow large photos in physical size, but have low data size- The net result is a good size photo which loads under 8 seconds. This is very important if loading 5-8 photos in an auction. The program is called "smart saver pro" and is designed for photo and web design applications. Check it out at the Ulead site. For samples of my photos, just go to Ebay and search auctions for METLMAN and see if the photos come in quickly in your connection.
