Last night I had to go in and revise/add to 89 auctions because of the checkout issue. I've been having people pay me thru Pay Pal without the shipping, then I have to contact them, they pay the shipping charges seperatly etc. This is taking LOTS of time and costing me (and others) money. Any idea as to when this will be fixed? I'd like to list tonight (and pretty much every night)but can't/won't until this is fixed. So, what's the status?

I agree. I am having the same issues as others. I do not have time to revise auctions. That is why I use auctionwatch so that once I schedule an auction I do not have to do anything with it until it is time to send the product. I am also losing money by having to pay double paypal fees due to
confusion on the part of buyers. Buyers are sending email through Ebay to me before AW even sends the WBN. I am curious whether you are "stalling" on doing the fix hoping that Ebay will back down on this issue since there is such an uproar about this throughout the Ebay community.

Hello,

We understand that some buyers are confusing the checkout process to mean there is no shipping, and we are actively working to implement checkout support ASAP - you will find updates posted in this thread as they become available.

Sorry we are unable to give an ETA on this issue.

At least give us the option to turn off eBay's checkout until AW is able to support this new feature.

NO ONE can turn off checkout. That is why there is such an uproar and talk of a class-action suit against Ebay. We are being forced to depersonalize our interaction with buyers and we are unable to fit our shipping etc to the individual needs of the buyer.

HEHEHE!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Love the six P's. And boy, do they fit this situation perfectly!!!!!

I too am troubled by the delay. I am not in favor of the checkout, but if I want to list I have no choice, so I am asking you (AW) to please please hurry with the feature. I have had to pay double fees also, from sellers (newbies) not adding the shipping. Is very frustrating!!

I have added the following blurb to the default text that AW adds to all my auctions. Feel free to borrow if it you would like:
I AM NOT CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING IN CHECKOUT: If you plan to pay by Paypal please click the yellow button at the end of this auction. Remember to include the shipping charges contained in the auction description. If you plan to pay by money order the payment information will be in an email from my auction service. Thanks!

I still cannot revise my auctions! Each time I do the page cannot displayed! I am really starting to get ticked! I have 300+ auctions that need to be revised and neither Ebay or AW has done anything to help!!! Each time I try to get answers from Ebay I get the same old "Thank you for your email, we will try to answer your question in 12-36 hours" . And guess what?! NO ANSMWERS!!!!! This is a joke.

Hello spoolmak,

The errors you are receiving when you attempt to revise your auctions may be browser related - we have heard back from many IE users who were able to revise using Netscape.

You should also be very careful when using HTML to format your ads - if there is a "broken" or missing tag somewhere in the HTML, it can cause the problem you've outlined.

Same problem here...I am also an IE user, and I can't revise my auctions, and am getting tired of having to explain the Checkout situation, and then have to request that the buyer pay their shipping after Checkout has told them that the shipping is $0.00. I have tried listing with eBay, and de-select e-Payments, but the darn Checkout still shows up. Please AW, just let us know IF there IS GOING TO BE A SOLUTION to this mess, and if so, when it will take place. This is not only discouraging to us sellers, but the buyers are totally confused! Maybe we should all send our shipping bills to eBay, and see if they can use Checkout to pay us!? The only thing I see coming out of this is less buyers and more neg feedback for the sellers. Nothing like a lose/lose situation!!!

Hi Spoolmark and Horsehelper,
I started this thread, and as you know, nothing has yet been done as far as checkout problems go. I too was unable to "revise" my auctions. But I "added" to the description instead. MUCH easier. Go to ebay, site map, center column "add to my items description". You can use HTML and this is the statement that now shows in BIG red letters at the end of each of my auction pages:
Please note :
I DO NOT use eBay's checkout feature. I will send a notice at the end of auction with the total amount due with shipping. I have TRIED to revise each auction to eliminate the check out feature, with no success. I am sorry for any confusion that eBay has caused with this feature.

I have had it...I need to list but won't/can't until this mess gets straightened out. Hope this helps you ...

Thanks for the tip Cricket84! Unfortunately I have too many Ads to revise. I will however try this for some of them. I just wish we could get some REAL answers about this situation form the people who are responsible!

Help is much needed. I started a thread well in advance of the sart of the eBay checkout system, and the reply from Auctionwatch was that they were not going to implement it.

Now they are. Great, BUT I have at any one time 1500-1800 auctions running and believe me this is really getting confusing!

How about this.....????

We are paying Auctionwatch to CORRECTLY list our auctions. This is not being done at this time.

Since AW is providing a SERVICE to us, and is the party responsible for the launch of our auctions to eBay, should not they be the ones doing the revising of our auctions to correct the checkout information individually, instead of us?

OR.......????

If we are only receiving 75% of what we are paying for...should they not be rebating us for OUR time and efforts?

I think that other sellers (regardless of their size) would agree that our auctions should be launched to the right site, at the right time, in the right category, with the right information and pictures, and ALL OTHER INFROMATION NECESSARY to present the auction to the potential buyers from the open to the CLOSE of the auction.

What bothers me is that AW had a lot of notice of this change and chose to ignore it. Really, they said so in the thread I started. BUT they are not the ones appearing unprofessional to thousands of bidders....BUT
SHELBYSTOYS SURE IS as I am sure are quite a few of us.

I can only hope that this will not cause us any negative feedbacks from bidders. We have worked way to hard for the over 4400 positive feedbacks we have.

Anyway, they will probably remove this comment and tell me to rant and rave in the feedback forum.

Unfortunately, this is still one of the better services available, though one of the very few where you CAN NOT LAUNCH an auction to your eBay store.

We are currently having to use another service to launch those auctions, which ARE getting listed WITH CORRECT checkout features.

And another rate revision to top all this off effective today.

Now here is the perfect example as to why the checkout thing needs to be SOLVED ASAP. I sent out winning notices for last nights ended auctions at 11 p.m last night. I had a bidder pay thru Pay Pal early this a.m., the item was SHIPPED by noon. I just now, at 4 p.m got a notice from ebay stating that the very same bidder needs to know the final amount due. Can we say "DUH"?????
I normally have 100-150 auctions going on any given day. This could create enough confusion to make my dyed red hair turn gray again!!!!!!
Come on AW, FIX the checkout problem!!!

TAKE NOTE AUCTIONWATCH IF THIS IS'T FIXED BY SATURDAY AM I will be forced to sign up with listing service that supports checkout, Hope I don't like it to much or I might not be back when you get it fixed, REMEMBER we are creatures of habit once we find something new we'll probable stay with it. I stuck with you guys from the begining thru the rate hikes, downtimes, GET somebody on this, Complaining to ebay won't change anything BECAUSE their listing service supports checkout.

Hello justnuf,

I've just gotten word back that we do plan to have checkout support implemented by this coming Monday. In the meantime, launching your auctions without checkout should not be problematic - the auction will simply indicate that the Shipping/Handling details will appear in the item description. If you have any specific problem launching your auctions, please let us know.

Diana,

(I do have a question in here, somewhere)

I don't blame AW for this Checkout mess. It is eBay blackmailing me. They are holding my customers hostage. The only way I can keep my good customer service is to give in and use Checkout. I fear that eBay has dug in and will not budge. They have harmed my auctions and intentionally created a negative situation where they are the only cure. In medicine it is called Munchausen Syndrome (where a mother harms her child in order to then come to the rescue).

However, If they don't give in and drop Checkout, I will be forced to use checkout to keep my sanity and because not using it creates MORE work and takes longer than using it. This brings me to my question.

When AW implements checkout, will there be a way for the shipping info the customer gives to be dumped into post sale management? If not, I would have to cut and paste evey address and I'd have to seriously reconsider using AW's post sale tools. If the info will transfer, I'll stay. I love AW. I couldn't imagine doing this without you guys.

Right now I HATE eBay. There is no reason they couldn't have made this completely optional. They are showing utter contempt for their sellers and are willing to lose quite a few to drive Paypal, AW, and others out of business. Many of us seem to be considered acceptable collateral damage.

I better calm down before I bust a vein.

Jeff

PS I would like an answer to my question, though.

I know that the bidders do NOT read the auction descriptions and usually "don't have time" to fill out the WBN. I just had an auction end and the check out end of auction email from ebay says:

Checkout Information
--------------------
Item Name: Harry Potter Collectors Stone - SNAPE
Item #: 1655431178
Item Price: $0.69
Quantity: 1
Total: 0.69 (includes shipping and other fees)
Checkout Date: Nov-02-01 14:50:35 PST

Why does it say that the winning bid of .69 includes shipping and other fees? I pay .30 listing fee with ebay and .05-.10 (depending on whether it was one of the first 10 auctions of AW billing cycle or not) and 5% FVF with ebay and 1% FVF with AW plus the cost of the bubble mailer and gasoline to go to the post office (and a 30 mile round trip to the bank if they pay by non-postal money order), so I refuse to pay the shipping on the auction as well. This is ridiculous! Also, because she has her address in the ebay checkout email, I'm wondering whether she will bother to fill out her address in the AW WBN or if I have to copy/paste it in?

I had one bidder last June complain about the WBN (even though ebay requires bidders/sellers to exchange info (such as addresses) via email to complete the transaction. The amount of typing to put your address in an email is the same as the WBN because the persons address is the same. Yet the bidder last June said, "I have been doing this for years and never saw a form like yours. no I didn't waste my time filling it out. who really wants to fill out those superlong forms? not me..its too long!" His emails proceeded to get very abusive. The transactions with that person were never completed. I don't know whether ebay would have done anything about his abusive emails or not and so they went unreported although I still have them along with the headers just in case. All this auction stuff is exasperating and I've about had it.

As far as I am concerned the trouble with revise your auction is not borwser related I USe IE and I was reviseing and fixing the shipping for all my auction just fine then after a few I no longer could revise I kept getting error messages.

I can tell you this I am tired of receiveing bid payment from billpoint with out the shipping and most buyers are not answering email about sending the shipping cost, the few that do respond have said that billpoint isn't letting them in to make the payment even after I send them an invoice.

I really love selling online but if something isn't fixed soon Ebay can stick there auction site where the sun don't shine I'm not listing on ebay to give my stuff away and not getting paid shipping make it imposable for me to afford the othr cost of selling.

also I cant make any income just issueing refunds due to a lack of shipping cost from the buyers.

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the delay in posting. Checkout support has been launched to the site. To specify your checkout settings, go to eBay Site Specifics in your My Account tab. Here is a quick link for your convenience:

Um. OK. I have two questions.

1. Where in an inventory item do I specify the checkout info? I can't specify it in global settings as each item has a different shipping charge.

2. When the buyer fills out the checkout info at the close of auction does it populate the address and shipping selection in PSM?

Hello LuskDeals,

If you enable the checkout option in your inventory items, go to My Account -> eBay Site Specifics and check the option. Save your preferences, and the checkout option will appear in your inventory items. Please note that you will need to edit each inventory item as the default checkout amounts will not carry forward from preferences to inventory.

We are not set up to automatically pull the address and shipping information sent by your buyer into our system. Your buyers will still need to fill out the WBN form, or it will need to be done manually by you once you receive the information for the time being.

Diana,

Thanks for timely response! I specified some generic checkout info on the My Account page and then went to an inventory item and noticed that the Checkout info was there but it was set to:

"I am not specifying Checkout details."

Thank you (and the programmers) for that foresight. When I read the previous post, I was afraid I was going to have to immediately adjust the price on every single item. This way, all old inventory items get defaulted to "no checkout", and I assume all newly created auctions would default to the specifications on the My Account page (with the ability to change it in the auction creation process). That part was handled nicely.

Question: What is the "Additional Shipping:" box for?

Also, I'd like to really emphasize the need for the Checkout info to be pulled into PSM. This is the kind of thing the API was supposed to help, right? If I have to cut and paste too many addresses, the PSM tools become more trouble than they're worth. EBay has created a situation where I don't see how I can not use Checkout, so if it becomes integrated with AW, I can deal with it. I am so close to quitting this whole business over the Checkout mess.

Jeff
