I have only made sporadic use of the Inventory function, mainly due to the fact it is very difficult to find items - especially if you list many items with identical or nearly identical titles. Tonight I came across a way to make it work nicely for me, and would appreciate knowing if there were a way AW could make it even easier. I rely almost exclusivly on the unique eBay auction number to track, mail out, sort and store my items. The fact that these numbers are unique and progressive, at least within categories, makes it easy to find items that have sold, etc. I realized I could use this eBay number as my SKU and this would really allow me effectively use the inventory function, especially for listing auctions that didn't sell from 30-60 days ago. Right now I cut and past the eBay number into my inventory items. Would there be a way for AW allow me to "import" eBay numbers and make them my SKU number?? Thanks.

Hi jaymark9
I know that currently we do not have that feature available. I am not 100% sure that I understand why using the auction # as a SKU would make things easier. For example, say you use an auction # for a SKU for a similar item that you launch. That item is going to get a different auction #, and eBay purges there system of old auctions every month or so which would erase the reference to original SKU. Would you change the SKU of the item every time you relisted it and received a different auction #?

Ebay purges their system every 90 days, not every month. When an auction closes, I relist it once. If it does not sell the second time, I pull it and relist it 60 days later. (I leave the LAST ebay number on the item).
Granted I could just go to eBay, "search" for the item by the #, then "relist" through eBay, but then I have to go to AW and "track" all of these auctions to get them back into the AW system to allow me to use post sale, etc.
If I were able to import the eBay number and make it my SKU: when it came time to relist older auctions, I could to it all, quite easily from inentory, by simply searching inventory by this SKU. As it is now, I may have 30 items in my inventory with the title "Vintage Embroidered Pillowcases" so doing a search in inventory brings all 30 up, and it's a real pain, if not impossible, to find the single pair that I wish to relist. With a unique SKU (the eBay number) this would be a snap.

Hi Jaymark9,
I will log your suggestion of using your eBay number as your SKU number and having the ability to import it. I can see how it would be beneficial, especially in your case.
