Hi, I am trying to figure out the mailstep with PayPal, because when I clicked on a link in my Winning Bidder Notifications to check what the buyer sees. It shows "To pay for this, go to BidPay". I don't even use "BidPay". I only use PayPal and I want that on the page that they click on in the link.

I did the steps in the Mailstep instructions, but I think it is confusing. (By the way, Mailstep is not on your help page and is hard to find). Does the mailstep e-mail address - in my case - [email protected] stay as a secondary account that is unchecked? I am also confused about how buyers will know to use my mailstep e-mail address. Do I have to put it in all of the e-mails, etc? If I use my Mailstep e-mail as the from address in the WBN, does that mean I don't get a copy of the WBN to my regular e-mail account? Pam

Hi Pkopesch,

You would basically need to have your mailstep ID as your PayPal ID (you store the email address) and store your mailstep ID as an additional email account in your PayPal account. You can leave your Primary email addres alone, as that is where the mailstep email goes to. I'm not sure which directions you were looking to but here is the link to all mailstep related promos and information:

http://wsacp.auctionwatch.com/promo/mailstep/

Regarding BidPay, you have the bidpay banner option selected in Global Preferences. If you deselect it, that will turn it off. It is listed as a subsection of the Money Order selection in Traditional Methods.

Ok, Sonya. Please be patient with me on this. I hope I did it all right. The mailstep PayPal address will be the secondary address. Right? Does that mean I still get a notification of payment from PayPal to my regular address? And then another e-mail goes to my mailstep address?

Then at AW, the payment is recorded as paid by PayPal on the fulfillment page for the item. Also it sounds like the address is filled in too by getting their address off of the notification from PayPal. Right?

As far as reviewing and testing this to be sure I did it right, the instructions say to purchase an item from storefront and send a payment via PayPal. This makes no sense to me. Pam

Hi Pam,

Your Mailstep ID does not have to be the primary email at PayPal, it can be a secondary email address there. When you store it, PayPal will send a confirmation to your mailstep email which you should receive at your primary email address stored here on AW. Once you confirm the storage of your mailstep email at PayPal you are all set.
