How can I, or can, I send a shipment notification without including the tracking link. People beleive when using USPS that the delivery confirmation number is a tracking number to see status.
Unfortunately, this step is automated from the AuctionWatch system. You could however add a note to your default message indicating that it is not an actual tracking number, and to ignore the link.
You can edit your default post sale messages via the My Account tab, under the post sale link found within.
