I got onto the page okay from the link in your email, but I’d fill out the top portion, billing address, then I’d check a box next to the shipping info portion below to indicate same as billing info. When I clicked to continue, I got a error message directing me back a page to fill in the shipping info. I prefer to pay by postal money order because it’s near-cash for seller and traceable for sender. So it was easier for me to simply take your address info and circumvent that annoying glitchy system entirely. Let me know when payment arrives and you intend to send out to me, thanks! melissa

The majority of friction between myself and my customer base revolves around their not filling out the checkout.

Hello davebraun,

Thank you for the feedback. It seems like something is not working correctly if your buyer has checked the box indicating that the billing/shipping addresses are the same but they are still required to fill out the shipping address.

I will have someone look into this. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,

Diana

I'm curious how she got around it to my address as that is only given if someone indicates a check or money order and the form has not been filled out (no response is indicated). The problem I anticipate is when she send a check I'll have no idea which account to post the payment to and search does not look for biddername$ only auction ID etc. The weakest link I have found in the system is bidder compliance I've considered dangling a carrot to coax a higher response rate. As to her error I suspect she didn't fill in country or payment type which is why she got kicked back to a prior screen.

Hello davebraun,

Can you tell us which auction this was? We would be happy to take a look. You could be correct that the buyer did not complete the form and that is why she was asked to try again. We will test it from here, and try to replicate the problem.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Dave,
Other than any technical problems, there may be some help you could check into in this thread:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=15&thread=67467

It's about WBN compliance and wording them to get better results. If you'd like a copy of the wording, just reply to that thread with a request for it and I'd be happy to send it along.

Too late I got to cut and paste in the info from an email. Compliance is an ongoing problem: many people don't know what a link is or what to do with it (I have some suggestions for them). I'm almost to the point of advocating a permit to use a computer similar to Ham Radio I've tried many variations in wording. Many believe they are finalizing the sale so don't go to checkout until all the auctions they have pending are completed at which point it may be too late to combine without my involvement from the backend. I've taken to downplaying the word checkout and am trying to come up with another phrase that doesn't imply an ending but losing their name address etc. doesn't help my cause.
