As you may already know, rate calculations for USPS priority mail packages in the 1-5 pound range will be changing on June 30th. The new rates will be determined in part by the distance the shipment must travel. We are working diligently to put in place an improved process for calculating the shipping cost for packages based on the zip code of the buyer and seller. The upcoming improvements will be tightly integrated into the existing Post Sale Management checkout system, and should be available within the next week.

I have a suggestion.
What I would like to see is 2 end of auction notices. The first asks for the winning bidder to fill in their name and address so we can calulate shipping charges.
After they do that, we fill in the shipping charges and the second end of auction notice goes out similar to the ones we already send.
It would also be extra terrific if this was all automated, right down to a shipping calculator which will automatically figure out the shipping costs. We fill in the weight when we are creating the auction and it should be able to build in our handling charge, or round up to the next dollar, etc.
I was hoping to get this for Christmas! What do you think?

That would be great if our bidders went to check out and it figured the postage when they filled in their shipping address. BUT AW needs to let us set up in our options a way to automatically add out handeling charges. I can understand if they put the options for insurance in the check out page but I always attach a delivery confirmation that way I know it arrived and it has been indespensible in knowing it arrived and when. I would not want this to be optional in my case. You leave it up to the bidders they ould opt out leaving me in lurch to answer their questions with not back up proof. Insurance is their baby I am not responsible without it and if I require it I state that in auction.
Another thing is the shipping charges in the AMPRO is redundent now with these changes at the USPS and makes me have to send out a confirmation of their postage after they reply. Double work for me.nusiance to them. Anyone got any ideas?
I like post above from SHIBAMARIE about it being automated but don't like the idea of sending out 2 notices. This sure kills instant payment unless it is a sure flat fee on light weight item.
I am digging my way out of the postal box and wondering if anyone else has any idea how this new thing will work be nice if AW would let us preview it give comments before it is instigated and causes us more headaches. How about it AW a preview....& don't forget to let us set up our default handeling charge that will be automatically added to postage and not listed dues to even if we charge extra 50 cents bidders are likely to balkat them make it in total and not listed separately like the rate calculator I found here it automatically adds out extra charges to cover delivery confirmation and other costs lumped into just one charge....

OH AW PLEASE make the check out page process shorter limit it to 2 pages PLEASE takes too long for them to fill it out click fill it out click fill it out etc
1 page short instructions with all the blanks to fill in take them to postage page ALREADY figured when they just filled out their shipping address & with how they plan to pay, well maybe a confirm page and confirm. darn that is still 3 pages. at least don't add another page. I it would be most useful when they confirm their shipping it sends them and the seller another email stating shipping address and their total cost so we can make sure it is ok etc. I think another emailsent to seller when they reply would be outstanding.
Thanks getting off the soap box and thank you all for giving me space to vent.

I have decided to continue to use a fixed shipping amount instead of waiting and waiting for AW to implement something.
I have too many BIN auctions that close and are paid immediately thru PayPal. As it is now with BIN's taking forever to go out at least the buyer will know the shipping amount from the auction listing.

I see the new setup for postage being calculated is in our Seller Preference section. Can I use it now or do I need to wait for an announcement that it can be used?
I want to give this a try, but I'm not sure if I'm jumping the gun here. Thanks.
