Can Auction Watch calculate shipping amount in the automatic sales tax computation? In certain states it is the law that we must collect sales tax on the product price and also on the shipping amount.
We are a New York vender and New York requires this.
Example:
Product cost is: $100.00
Shipping is $20.00
Sales Tax Percent is: 7.25%
It appears that auction manager does not have a option in preferences to check sales tax applies to shipping. As a result it figures sales tax on the above example as $100 * 0.0725 = $7.25 and that's what people pay. People get really upset if you later tell them to send more money which is understandable. It is simply not good business practice to do this to customers.
New York requires that sales tax be collected on: $100 + 20 = $120.00 for that example which is $8.70 in sales tax. We don't have the option of not paying sales tax so we end up eating the $1.45 in this example out of our pockets.
I asked about this over a year ago when we were using AuctionWatch. I was told then that you did not do this properly. This was one of the main reasons we stopped using your service then. We are trying it again now since you support Fixed Price eBay auctions. However if you still do not allow us to properly collect sales tax (Which results in us eating the additional tax), then we will have to reevaluate your service once again.
I find it hard to believe that this would not be fixed after over a year. Every other program for auction post sales management that I have seen has this option built into them.

Hi Daytontech,
You can set your preference for sales tax in Post Sale Management Options. There's a box there you can check that applies sales tax to the WBN, and a text box where you can instruct your winners what tax percentage to set on the tax drop down menu. Unfortunately that is the only way to apply tax to your item.

So will you be implementing an additional checkbox option like the following in the preferences?
Does Sales Tax apply to the Shipping/Handling amount also? (Yes/No)
This is required to be in compliance in multiple states with how they compute sales tax. Without this option, AuctionWatch is computing INCORRECT sales tax amounts in those states.
Every other Post Sales management auction software supports this feature that I have seen.
Please reply with a specific answer to this. It needs to be implemented to comply with Sales Tax laws in multiple states. It is not a "luxury" request.
