Here's another thing I'm having difficulty with. When I create an item I place a 1 in the quantity available. I then place that one in the storefront. If I go back and edit that item to have 0 in the storefront (ie: don't want it to go into store yet) it changes my inventory counter to 2. Can you guys look into this. My inventory numbers are all wrong and I keep having to go in and re-edit everything to set them right. Thanks.

I just figured it out. QTY AVAIL does not reflect the actual stock on hand qty, but rather the overages not yet listed (in store or auction) I was using a profile that I had obviously edited to reflect actual quantity, and when I took it out of the store it got added to that number. Still it's not a true reflection of actual inventory, but at least I know what the numbers really mean now.

Hi Sonya (sorry - you must be sick and tired of hearing from me, but I'm trying to do it all correctly this time around) I create all my items in CREATE LISTING and the referenced qty numbers are what shows up in my inventory lists. Am I missing something - I thought the only way to enter a new item was through the CREATE LISTING area - you mentioned creating something in inventory, but I've never done that? I'm going to go and investigate that now.
Thanks again.

Hello,
I was just confused on where you were selecting your quantity available since from your original post it wasn't clear if you were launching from create listing or from inventory. If I can get the process down that you are using, I can try to duplicate it on my end to see what is going on.
Yes, you can create in inventory and launch from there if you like.

Sonya, I just looked into creating an item in inventory and it appears that profiles are not available as pull down choices when creating new items here. Am I correct here?
As for my "method" I do the following:
1) Go to create listing
2) Click on the appropriate profile
3) Click on Storefront
4) Edit item description
5) Enter 1 for qty available
6) Go down to storefront and enter 1 in store.
7) create item.
When I then go into inventory it shows 0 as qty avail and 1 as qty in storefront. I think for a while there I was editing the qty avail back to read 1 (because that's what I have) with that 1 showing in qty at storefront. Then when I pulled it out of my storefront my qty avail reverted to 2. As I mentioned in the earlier email - I see now that qty avail refers to EXTRA quantity on hand not including what is placed in the storefront. Now that I know what it means I can work with it, but it was a little confusing. Perhaps the QTY AVAIL column should have a different title and read EXTRA INVENTORY or something. I'm a newbie at all of this so I take some info at face value. (I need to learn to take the time and thouroughly investigate everything, but then I would need 90 hrs for any given day - wouldn't that be something!)
I hope this gibberish makes some sense to you.
Thanks again.

Hello,
Okay now I understand what you have done. Quantity Available reflects on what you have available, that is not in your store or present in an auction.
Regarding profiles -- you create profiles in inventory so you can't apply them there. It might be best if you continued launching from create listing, I just wanted to let you know that listing from inventory is an option as well.

Thanks Sonya, with your help I am getting a better handle on it all now. Hopefully I won't be bothering you guys again for a while.
