A problem that has been costing me has to do with my shipping discounts. Because I deal worldwide, shipping discounts vary. Also, Billpoint and Paypal get a shipping figure determined and when the buyer gets to my site after a Buy It Now or auction, they can't change those figures. What I have to have is the buyer free to change the shipping figure. If they purchase an additional item on the auctionwatch site, they become frustrated because the shipping is not what is advertised, and they stop buying.
I have checked the box to allow changes but it doesn't happen. I continually have to refigure and send corrected invoices. Today one gentleman stopped at five purchases because he felt he lost control and was being overcharged shipping.
Once again, the programmers are way too efficious.

Hi Forceten32,
There is a shipping discount section in global preferences -- I see that you have it marked for zero, I don't know if that is what you intended however if you used the percentage option for it that may fix your problem.

It doesn't. The shipping cost is situation dependent. %'s do not apply. Why is there no option for the buyer to enter the figure?
I have international buyers that have four options. I have US and Canadian buyers that have a ton of options depending on whether they choose Buy It Now or not.
% doesn't apply because the shipping is constant but the price can range greatly. However, the constant changes with the situation of what else the customer has bought and where they live.
The programmers have to recognize that thousands of sellers are selling in multitudinous ways that can't be covered by checking one of two boxes.
I can pass your suggestion along to product development to apply discounts to individual items. Unfortunately at this time you can only do it globally. Your only other option is to not let buyers combine orders themselves and to do it yourself -- that way you can control the shipping costs for the item.
Suppose a buyer BINs three DVDs and then arrives at the site and selects two more, now he/she wants to pay. What is he/she confronted with? Would I global write on the page that I will send him/her an invoice?
Basically, when you have a multiple buyer you can combine the auctions into one order so they only have to pay you once, and they can pay a shipping fee that you determine. From post sale, you can combine orders -- go to Combineable Orders and if you have a winner who has one more than one auction, all their auctions should then come up. You can then select them all and hit combine, and at the following page, decide if you want to add up the shipping for all auctions or designate one shipping price for all the auctions combined.
So in the case you presented, you would have to have the auto WBN turned off.

Thanks for the suggestions. I realize you have to deal with what's there. However, I am trying to be less involved generally, not more.

I have a similiar situation which makes me struch with the listing through Auctionwatch.
In the Global preference, there are 4 shipping choices, is there any way to add more shipping methods ? Since I ship worldwide and sell many items with different weight ?
