I mailed a bunch of items today using the online priority mail label with free delivery confirmation.
I don't have much faith in my post office, as they seemed to fumble a bit with the concept. I had to deal with my squirming two-year-old so I didn't pursue it much.
Anyway, I was about to send off all my shipment notifications but saw that it includes the link to track the shipments in each notice.
I tracked most of the auctions tonight and none have even been scanned by my post office (not surprising.)
The issue is, I don't want my buyers to be able to track their shipments, especially if my post office screwed up. After all, they don't expect this service anyway, and certainly didn't pay anything for it.
I want to keep the tracking numbers on file for my own use; is there any way to delete this link in the shipment notifications without deleting the tracking numbers?
I would love to do this tonight yet, but it's getting late, and I'll probably end up emailing the notices out manually (fun.)

Hello Kelly,
If you would like to take the tracking link out of the shipping notifications, you can go to My Account -> Post Sale Mgt. Options, and remove the %%track%% identifier from the default message. This should remove the tracking link from the message.
Please let us know if you have any trouble with this.

Hi Diana,
This doesn't work - there is no tracking link in the default message, nor is there anything I can revise in the individual messages.
What I am assuming (correct me if I'm wrong) is that AW is automatically inserting the link in the notifications whenever the user enters a tracking number, bypassing any ability to edit it out.
Thanks in advance if you can figure this one out for me.

Hi Kelly,
If you go to the fulfillment checklist (you can get to it by clicking the set of PSM keys for any item), you will see in step 5 of the keys there is a field for tracking number. If you erase the one there, then your customers won't be receiving the link to track their packages.
Unfortunately, this doesn't work either. I do desire to keep the tracking number on file, and I do want to track my packages, and by deleting the tracking number I can no longer use AW to track the package.
As I stated before, since my post office often doesn't even scan the package upon receipt, and since the customer didn't ask for or pay for this service, I'd rather not have them be confused and frustrated by trying to track a package which will just come up as not found.
So, what I had to do to circumvent this problem is highlight and cut the tracking number for each auction, then print the notice, then paste the tracking number back in, which was cumbersome, to say the least. I would have liked to be able to send all the notices at once.
I'm surprised, because this is the only thing I can see that AW just defaults to in messages without the user being able to edit. I understand that AW only puts this in the message when there is a tracking number, but it would be nice for the user to have some control.
