HI, I cancelled my BIN messages a few months ago as I find that with eBay now supplying winning bidder zip codes I can send an ebay invoice right at the end of the auction without having to wait for a reply from the winning bidder. That being said I wonder why a freaky thing happened yesterday.
AW sent out about 20 BIN messages dated 11/01/2001 (please notice the year old date) that I sent to winning bidders saying that I will be out of town on an emergency and wouldn't be able to ship their items for about two weeks. I remember that message and there was no problem with anyone.
I'm curious how AW decided to send the same message yesterday with the old date still on it to all of those people. Most came back as undeliverable but one or two got through and I got some questioning emails back from the bidders. What's going on? Also AW sent a BIN mesage on a new auction that ended yesterday. Something strange is going on. Please advise. Thanks, Steve

Hi Sonya, nope! Woke up yesterday morning and found all the returned messages in my email box (about 20) - some marked as undeliverable - some went through and I really got some curious emails from the mail recipients that did receive them. Then I also got the WBN message for an auction that just ended with an annoyed email from a winning bidder saying "Hey! I already paid you - what gives". I now send invoices within several hours after an auction ends because ebay supplies zip codes with the end of auction notice. So I find there is no need for a WBN any longer. 90% of my auctions are now paid within 48 hours after end of auction as most buyers are now using either paypal or billpoint. So WBNs as far as I'm concerned are redundant and unneccessary. Please make sure no more WBNs go out on new auctions. Re: the year old ones - that's just some kind of weird computer glitch , but it still shouldn't have happened. Steve
If you had been using the automatic WBN and want to turn it off for items you already listed, you can do this from the active page. From the Sales Manager tab, click on the active link along the left hand side of the page.
From here, select all of your items and hit the set WBN button. On the following page you can turn the automatic feature of the WBN on or off in bulk.

Christopher, I tried takng your advice. I got as far as hitting the "select all" button. But nowhere on the active listing page do I see a "set WBN button". Anyway I cancelled the WBNs in my preferences site a month or so ago. Why are they still occassionally going out on new closed auctions? It happens on an average about one a week. And that still doesn't explain why AW sent out about 20 WBNs that were repeats of a year ago. I would like to hear an explanation on that one. My biggest concern is emails that I get from winning bidders on new auctions. I send them an invoice at once. They usually pay within a few hours. Then the next day they get a WBN asking them to fill out all the info and make payment. So, of course they send me a concerned email asking "whats going on, I already paid you". Christopher and Sonya - I don't need this aggravation. I didn't get to over 1100 feedbacks by ticking off my customers, and I certainly don't need AW doing it for me. Please correct it. Thanks, Steve

Christopher, I apologize, I went back in and found the "set WBN" button hiding up in the tool bar. I was looking for it in the sidebar. I clicked "select all" and on the next page the "on-off with the light bulb button was unlit. I clicked it and it lit up. So, I figured that it had been off and now I probably just turned it on. So I repeated the process and set it back to unlit. But I have no way of knowing which is the correct setting. Obviously being lit should mean on. But I take nothing for granted anymore on the internet. So, please go into my site and check to see if it is on or off and if it is on, please correct it to off. Thanks, Steve
You had a bunch of them on, but I just turned them all off for you so you should have no WBN go out at all. I am not sure why the old ones went out, I will continue to look into it but for now, if it happens again please let us know.

Thank you Sonya, I know when you get involved in something it usually turns out in the right way. I would be interested in your letting me know what happened on those old ones if you do in fact find out. Thanks again, Steve

OK! are you ready. The following are just some of the ones that were on one email. There were about 20 in all on this one. Plus there were several more individual emails. The eBay item numbers are as follows:
1027202145-1027203555-1027202300-1027203605-1481247542-1481241903-1027192230-1027192238-1027192718-1292506354-1481242168. I tried to forward the emails from my webtv to my laptop but I couldn't get the attachment to show up. I was just going to cut and paste the whole email in this space. But I'm just not computer literate enough to figure out why the attachment won't show. But the above should give you enough info. If you need to see the whole email I'll forward it to you from the webtv. But I'll need a different email address for you other than this post. Thanks, Steve
Did you happen to relist some older auctions? I checked the recent ones where the WBN was sent out, and the automatic WBN box was checked off. If your preferences arent setup to do this, the only way would be manually checking the box when listing (doubtfull) or relisting items that you had used the automatic WBN option on in the past when you launched them.

Christopher, yes, I have relisted some older auctions lately. But they were at the most perhaps a month or less old. The ones in question here are over a year ago. So your theory doesn't come into play here. Please note the date of 11/01/2001. Not 2002. Steve
