In my auctions I charge the same shipping for any quantity within a Dutch auction. When dealing with FP Auctions if there is a quantity of over 1 purchased checkout charges as if it were combining auctions and applies the formula I use (75% off 2nd, third etc.) I prefer to us the same rule I use in Dutch auctions.
My Question: Is there some way to accomplish this?
Part 2: in the checkout message it is stated that the discount on the combined shipping will be shown prior to confirmation, this is incorrect the discount is shown after confirmation not before. I get a number of emails regarding this point daily.
Part 3: I've noticed that in some of my auction checkouts the checkbox for insurance is missing. Why?
1. Visit the My Account tab, click on the Global Preferences link and check the box labeled 'Calculate shipping on Dutch wins as 1 item regardless of quantity.'
2. We will have someone from engineering take a look at this, thank you for bringing it to our attention.
3. Do you have any specific examples of this we could take a look at, to test with?

I have had that setting all along as my default. Any of the FP auctions act as if they are seperate auctions in the way they combine. This is also true for storefront items universally. I'll get a few items numbers for you to look at.
So you don't want it to show up as having the total shipping, then the shipping discount, then the final total -- correct? You want to just have one shipping there that already is discounted? And this is not working when there are FP items involved but if it is just regular auctions, it is working?

In regards to the insurance option box not being there, I encountered a problem with it when I used the Opera browser, but not if I was using Netscape. I also has problems on other websites with Opera.
If I was filling out the bidder info when I was using Opera, I could check the box for insurance, but it wouldn't "stick" for some reason. I was using Opera on my old computer because Netscape 4.7 and eBay became incompatible, for some reason unknown to me, and my computer would lock up.
My duct tape solution was to have both browsers open and use Opera for eBay and Netscape for AW and other things.
So, the insurance problem might be a browser problem.

Sonya,
for instance if I have a Dutch auction and the shipping is $2.- and the buyer wins 3 units the shipping shows up as $2.- (this is correct)
In a FP auction the shipping is listed as $2.- the buyer selects 3 units the shipping in checkout says $2.-, on the confirmation page it shows as $6.-, less a discount of $3.- for a total shipping of $3.- (this is incorrect it should be $2.- if the rules I established for Dutch auctions apply to FP which apparently they do not)
I would want FP auctions to follow the same rules as Dutch auctions if you look at 987862204 you'll see what happened when 5 units were purchased.
shibamarie, I am not looking for a work around. The insurance checkbox not appearring is a problem that occurs occassionaly with my browser IE6. I've noticed it when I've had to fill out the checkout for buyers with issues. I don't propose to poll my buyers on what browser they are using and offer suggestions for change. Opera enjoys a small percentage of the market most of the web is designed for Netscape or Explorer and assumes that that it is being viewed on a PC as Mac is a small minority albeit a vocal minority
Thank you for the clarification. I will need to log a suggestion to make that an option for FP as well, since they aren't considered dutch and that is why they are coming out with the shipping discount when combined.
Regarding insurance, I reviewed some of your post sale items that haven't yet received the WBN response and each one had the insurance option there.

Thanks, the insurance thing only seems to happen once in a while. With reagrd to FP auctions it would be helpful to be consistant in my auctions. What I have done on some is revise the auction after launch and clarify the shipping in the payment options ie:
$2.00 for the first item and .50 for each additional item but it's time consumming as I've been using FP quite a bit lately.
