Couple of things swirling around in my head: What's the status of the paypal button in auction ads? I have my auctions set up for Vendio check-out, and turned off my automatic paypal insertion a couple of weeks ago when it was an urgent thing to do. Now that the supposed transition has taken place, and you have posted that paypal is working with Vendio (and others that utilize management companies), is it okay to start having the paypal button re-inserted into our ads? And if so, are there particular steps that need to be done?
Second question: I just opened my eBay store, and I was wondering how the photo thing works. I pay for unlimited photos, but I know you have a 90 day automatic deletion policy. Does that time amount keep regenerating as long as someone opens the auction and looks at the item? In other words, if no one looked at my auction for 89 days, and then someone clicked on the auction and looked, does it go back to 90 more days? Or would that photo be up for deletion in the following few days? This is just an example, so I can understand.
I want to give you a great big THANK YOU for finally giving support for the eBay stores. I'm totally psyched about the whole thing!

Hi Toyspast,
The ALI has been discontinued. Any settings that you had on PayPal for it are basically moot, since an eBay preferences has basically taken it's place. I posted the following in the bigger thread but I will post it here for your convenience:
You are able to eliminate any possible errors by doing one of the following things:
1. If you do not want eBay Checkout or a PayNow button at the top of your closed listings:
Log into your eBay account and go to your My eBay page. Click on the Preferences link found on this page, then on the 'Update payment preferences' link on that page.
From here, uncheck the box labeled 'Offer PayPal on all my listings' in your PayPal preferences, but leave the box labeled 'Tell my buyers that I prefer PayPal payments' checked. Click the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page when finished.
Note: This option will not display PayPal in the eBay specific payment options, but Vendio will both list PayPal as well as provide the logo within your listings automatically. You will also still be eligible for the 1.5% PayPal cash back and any other benefits associated with "PayPal Preferred."
2. If you want a PayNow button at the top of your closed listings:
Log into your Vendio account, click on the My Account tab, then on the Global Preferences link. Under your stored PayPal ID, check the box labeled 'Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in my listing' - then scroll to the bottom of the page and click to save the change.
Note: This option may discourage buyers from completing Vendio Checkout and may result in payments not being recorded in your post-sale system since these options will enable the Pay Now button at eBay when the listing ends.
Regarding your second question -- I am pretty sure that a person clicking on it will reset the flag, but I am going to double check on this for you and let you know for sure.

Hi, Sonya:
I didn't really need the instructions that have been going around for the past couple of weeks - honestly I'm tired of seeing them. My question was more along the lines of since Paypal decided against implementing the full conversion as planned - to work with Vendio and other management companies - how does that impact those that want a Paypal button and still have the Vendio check-out? I mean, according to the announcement, they decided it wasn't wise to disrupt those that utilize management companies, and that in the long run, they will lose potential paypal customers by taking the paypal button away. That's what I'm asking. I want a paypal button in my ads, but I do not want the eBay check-out. What is being done, if anything, to move towards that option?

Hi Toyspast,
If you are asking if it is okay to have the PayPal button reinserted in your ads via you pasting in the HTML for the Smart logo -- yes, that is okay. You can then just set up the URL in your PayPal preferences, under Payment Received Preferences, to the Vendio checkout URL.
From what I can tell you had the ALI active and the logo was coming into your listings after you items launched. That is no longer going to be available as it has been replaced by that new preference on eBay.
8-) Can you break that down to the "Idiot's Guide to How to Put a Paypal Button in your Auction Ad?" Sorry, I lost you after you said something about putting some HTML in my ad. Where in the ad do I put it, and where do I get the HTML? And then what am I supposed to change at Paypal? Sorry. Oh, and after I do that, will the buyer be able to CLICK on the button to pay via paypal or is it just a LOGO to show that I take paypal?

Hello,
My apologies, I didn't mean to confuse you any further. Along with the ALI, PayPal used to offer up the HTML to the Smart Logo for people who wanted to put that logo within their listings. I just checked PayPal and you can't get that HTML from them anymore, most likely because it was part of the ALI program. If you tried asking PayPal for it, I'm not sure if they'll give it to you because it's possible it's no longer available, but it's worth a shot. That would place a clickable link off the logo into your listings.
When I checked your past listings I noticed that you did use the ALI so unfortunately your only other options now are the ones I initially posted in my response back to you.
