Hello Vendio Gods,
I was hoping that the new Paypal integration would have corrected a glitch in the posting of the address info and payment status in Sales Manager, but it's the same old nonsense. If the eBay e-mail address that is registered with the eBay buyer ID fails to match that buyers Paypal e-mail, then no Paypal integration occurs at all. No address is brought into Sales Manager, and no paid status is updated. This happens despite the match of the buyers eBbay name and the match of the auction number.
Examples of this are my auctions # 2350037124, and # 2350037126.
In these two recent cases, the buyers paid through Paypal (avoiding my Vendio checkout like the plague, as usual), the buyer id, item #, item title, all match perfectly, but the Paypal e-mail and the eBay e-mail don't match, so your system fails to record these payments.
This should be setup to ignore the e-mail match, lots of customers have different eBay and Paypal e-mails on file. If the buyer ID and the auction number match, that should be enough to record the payment, glean the address, and update the status.
What else would your system need to properly recordp these Paypal payments? I'm using the new Paypal IPN system, but it still misses way too many payments because it insists on matched e-mail addresses.
Please tell me this is going to get fixed;, otherwise you just wasted a ton of effort on your new "tighter" integration.
You guys need beta testers badly! This glitch was an easy one to catch. I'm volunteering. Call me.
We are sorry to hear of your frustration with this possible IPN limitation. We will check further on this issue for you and post back when more information is available.

Hello Christopher,
Auction #2352069961, eBay buyer ID:bofficer, is another example of the Paypal IPN glitch where Vendio is insisting on an e-mail match between Paypal and eBay before it will post and update a Paypal payment. This glitch, the latest of many, is dated 10/11/03.
Please update me on this situation. This makes your Paypal integration very unreliable, and largely useless.
We tried testing this when you first brought it up, but even when I used a different email address than my eBay default, the payment was still picked up.

Hi Christopher,
I sent a few more examples of this Paypal notice failure to you through your email.
I figure the more examples you get, the easier it may be to track the glitch down?
Hey everybody, am I the only one having this problem with the new (and the old) system of Paypal notification? Just curious. It might help if others spoke up if they are having the same experience.
Thanks Christopher, and anyone else that helps on this mess.

Any fix yet?
Paypal integration is the only thing that truly separates your service from the others. And it doesn't work because of this e-mail glitch. It's been weeks now, any news?

p.s.: If engineering needs more examples of this failure, I've got dozens.

Hello Gousainc,
Finally people are speaking up about this glitch. I thought i was alone here! Maybe very few are using the Paypal IPN? Or they didn't notice that the info didn't post?
I don't think a zip match is necessary. If the eBay user ID and the auction number match, post the payment and address! What more do they need? Those two items would eliminate the chance of the wrong person paying for the auction, right?

Dear Vendio,
I REALLY appreciate all the new features you have rolled out recently, but I do have to wonder about your company's priorities when it comes to bug fixing. I realize you have a finite amount of software engineering expertise on hand, so why dilute your resources so much by rolling out new features constantly when you have serious issues like this Paypal integration bug, and the inability to file NPB/FVF with fixed price dutch autions, on your agenda? Come on, was the customer base really houding you with demands that they be able to zoom their images (at a buck a piece!!)?

Hello BTO,
Thank you for your feedback on this issue.
In the future, please try to direct feedback for us to the Feedback specific forum, as we reserve the Sales Manager and Image Hosting forum for questions and answers on these two specific products.
This also keeps your issues from being lost in the much more rapid number of posts that come into this forum, so others can view them as well.

Hello Vendio,
Any progress on making the Paypal integration work? This is really frustrating. Can't you make the software stop requiring an e-mail match to post the payment and address to Sales Manager?
Here's another example of an auction that failed due to mismatched e-mails: 2357591154.
Here's the Paypal notice:
Payment Details:
------------------------------
Total Amount: $219.00 USD
Currency: U.S. Dollars
Transaction ID: 6GA535262H6569849
Total Shipping: $51.00 USD
Insurance: $0.00 USD
Quantity: 1
Item Title: New! Beautiful Oak Roll Top Desk Just-$168
Item Number: 2357591154
Buyer: Isabella Margineanu
Buyer's User ID: isabella3193
Buyer matches, auction matches, amount matches, but no post to Sales Manager because the emails don't match.
Any chance we can slow down the new feature rollouts and take some time to fix the very serious flaws and bugs? Were you really getting demands for the "zoom feature" on your images? At a buck a piece?!!?
It seems Vendio has lost it's focus on creating usability, and has instead fallen into the common software company trap of bringing out bells and whistles at all costs, i.e. Microsoft, etc..
Please give this bug some attention. This feature is one that really makes Vendio stand apart from it's competition. And in it's current state, it's unusable.
In most cases, Paypal payments will be recorded automatically. There are a few scenarios, however, in which payments might not be recorded in post-sale. These are outlined below:
1. Your buyer has made the payment directly at Paypal (not through eBay/Paypal or Vendio Checkout) and has not filled in the auction information when making their payment. If your buyer does not fill in the auction information, the payment may not be processed in post-sale.
2. Your buyer is using an email address other than the address registered to their eBay ID, and is purchasing a Dutch, eBay Store, or Fixed Price item. At times, payments will not be automatically recorded under these conditions.

Thank you Sonya for your reply, but simply stating that you know there is a flaw in the system under your scenario number "2" is hardly an appropriate reponse to this problem. Why does the Paypal integration require an email match at all? If the auction number, buyer ID, and amount match, it should be posted into Sales Manager. Anything less than that actually creates MORE work for your users because we never know when the Paypal integration has dropped the ball, and we are forced to check Paypal manually on every auction.
"Thank you for your comments" is not nearly enough of a response to this mess. Why not "our engineers are working to fix this flaw"?
You are certainly not alone. This scenario happens to me periodically and causes me extra work and grief to reconcile all PayPal email notifications. I agree 100%, this issue seems to be very straightforward and should be a top priority for Vendio (not zoom enhancements, etc.).
I would be interested to know if Vendio maintains a formal bug list. Vendio should make this bug list accessible to the clients for tracking and prioritization purposes. It would also be nice for Vendio to proactively communicate proposed future enhancements (similar to how eBay does).

Well said, Ted!
I suspect many Vendio users believe they have some setting wrong or something, and don't actually understand that the Paypal integration has a glaring flaw.

Magnificent idea Ted!! How about it Vendio. Why not have a web page dedicated to the "known" bugs, when it was sent to programmers for a "fix", and current status (i.e. inprogress, done, don't know how to do, don't care to do).

Hello all,
We will be releasing a fix for this shortly (possibly tomorrow) which should help resolve this issue. The problem is that for Dutch, eBay Store, or Fixed-Price items where there are multiple buyers for the same item, IPN does not provide enough information to allow our system to link each payment to the individual sale. We believe that the fix we are releasing will allow us to link almost all payments, so you should see a marked improvement after the release.

Eagerly awaiting the fix. I've only started using Vendio and have been trying to figure out what I did wrong to make the Paypal payments not show up. I'm glad to hear it's not me.

I've noticed in the past few days that some payments where the auction ID matches and the email address matches are not being recorded. This seems to be happening about 10 percent of the time (1 out of 10 payments) give or take.

This morning 3 out of 10 payments did not post automatically. Email's were correct as well as auction numbers.
Republican, the other white meat!

Any progress Diana? In the recent announcement, Vendio is telling people to leave the Paypal Mailstep process, and sign up for the Paypal IPN process. Does that mean the IPN has been fixed? Please tell me you are not telling people to sign up for the IPN BEFORE the bug fix has been implemented.
