Not sure why my post isn't showing as new, no real biggie, but,I am feeling a bit ignored. I also cannot get the Category to work for ebay this morning. As I posted in the next post, I have done everything you suggested. Please help, as there is absolutely no way to list at this point. All other categories for sites load fine, just not ebay. Thank You

Hello,

Please open the eBay category selection page and, if it fails again to work properly, please hit Ctrl + F5. This should force Internet Explorer to reload the page, while ignoring any cached versions.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hi Radu... well I did as you said CTR F5 through internet explorer and not. Both times it clearly "tried" to refresh the page.. and for about 10 seconds the "progress bar" showed.. then BOOM dissapeared. No.. catagory pull down still.. the number in the box beside the catagory is a ZERO... what next?

I did as you suggested and it appeared to load with the dots running across, yet still nothing!

I have even shut off the Norton Security to see if that was a problem and tried to refresh. Nope, that didn't help. I just can't understand why only two of us are having this problem. XP, IE using Comcast Cable as service provider.

Hi Barb.... soooo, we are both on XP with IE .. and HAVE norton security? Yes! Me too!! The only difference is I am on AOL.. not comcast. I also tried "all the little hints" while turning off the security system... and nothing worked. I am getting so madddd! This is ridiculous. I have an idea on how I can list. I am just going to import some "old" auctions from whatever catagories.. then "launch them" to ebay.. and "edit" the catagories from ebay. However, this is a royal pain in the rump.. and hopefully I will only have to do it for a few hours until they figure out what the problem is. I went to see if I could list directly from ebay.. and YES !! I can. So it must be a 'vendio glitch'. I don't think it is in our systems.. .. everything else is working fine except NO CATAGORY pull down bar! Deb

Yep me too! I thought maybe it was just me, but all of the other category sites are working great, I just can't figure it out. I can also use ebay to list, but I do not like using their system to list. I want my vendio!!! I have been with them for a very long time and it's like an old shoe that is very comfortable. Could someone please help us to figure out what is going on? Starting to drive me nuts, Thanks.

Hello,

Please let us know if your computers run the Automatic Updates service.

If not, please go to the Windows Update site (click Tools > Windows Update in the Internet Explorer menu) and check for the Critical Updates and Service Packs the site recommends, especially those for Windows and Internet Explorer.

There might also be a conflict with Norton Security, so indeed please turn it off, if possible, when checking the category page again.

Thanks,

-Radu

Critical Updates are automatic on my computer and are up to date, just checked. Norton is completely turned off, both virus and Security and still no help. I am completely lost on this one. It was all working great until yesterday. Has to be an answer here. Thank You.

Just a thought, can you go into our accounts from your end and see if it is working for you, and if it is, possibly from your end refresh or update the category for ebay for us somehow. This just doesn't make good sense that all the other categories are working, except for ebay. Has to be a small glitch somewhere in a recent change. Thanks, I just don't know what else to do. I am going to my friends house and see if I can get into it from their computer. Will let you know.

I tried to get the catagory pull-down on Expolorer also and it still didn't work. I did put a category # in the little box ( I used 2195 - books) and it took me to the next page(listing page) so it has to be a problem or glitch with the pull down selection.

Hello,

The category pull downs are working, I've checked in your accounts and they come up within seconds. Please keep on trying to access the page, as soon as it uploads you won't have this problem anymore.

Regards,

Sonya

Hello again, RADU, Barb & M ..
I just spent over an hour.. downloading a new driver and a couple updates at Microsoft Windows update center. I turned off PC .. then tried accessing "catagories" again. Still nothing. .. Then, I deleted all my old cookies, turned off Norton, cleared cashe, and SHUT DOWN & started again. I NOW can see the catagory pull down!! (and I am NOT running through Internet Explorer!)
I don't know if it will last, but I am going to hurry and take advantage of it while it is "working" ...
Again, download all updates needed from Windows Update (I had a driver even!)
TURN off NORTON
DELETE ALL OLD COOKIES (so you have to actually type in WWW.VENDIO.COM!!)
Clear cashe.
SHUT down.. (not just a reboot)... PC and start again.
I will let you know if mine Keeps working! Good Luck, DEB

Thank you Deb, I tried all of your suggestions and none worked, yet when I rebooted my computer and error message came up from ebay. I use the browser toolbar that I downloaded when it first came out. The error message reported "Ebay Toolbar Update Error, Please Uninstall and re-activate your toolbar." I uninstalled, and went to ebay and reinstalled again. Problem solved. All is working fine! Man that was driving me nuts.

I am also having this problem...have read all the threads...done everything suggested and still nothing. Using Control F5 it attempts to load but is unsuccessful..have tried numerous times..disabled Norton's two icons and still nothing. Finally gave up and manually looked up category numbers which is very time-intensive.

Feb 27th.....

Good Friday morning all! I am sooooo HAPPY .. I logged on this morning without turning off Norton, and tried accessing the "Catagory Pull Down Bar" in eBay.
I DID absolutly NOTHING .. and its working!! For how long, I don't know.
I JUST KNOW its working right now!!! Yippee!
.. also... for anyone having to physically LOOK UP the catagories, be very CAREFULL!! Some of the catagory numbers on the look up page is NOT actually the stated catagory at ebay.
For instance .. I looked up "vintage accessories `Hats`... it has the number being 598.. however, when I launced it to ebay.. the catagory came up as "vanity" items. I had to edit the catagory from the ebay pages.
So.. after you actually "Launch" you auction, better run over to ebay and make sure its in the correct "catagory"... and GOOD LUCK with the catagory pull down problem! I may be back later saying it doesn't work again.. but going to take advantage of it while I have it! Hugs, from Michigan, DEB

Deb,

Lucky you....I still can't get it to work. Thanks for the heads-up on the category numbers being wrong when launched. I just tried to look up a category number on ebay's site and can't even find the category number listing to look up a number!!!! Think it's time for a cup of coffee and hope when I come back things will be better.

Hello,

In the lower right hand corner of your window, you might see a group of icons showing you some of the programs currently running. Try using the right-click on your mouse to click on these and when that new window pops up (see image below) - use the regular left-click on your mouse to click on the word exit.

Try exiting from anything you see listed here, provided it is not your Internet Connection itself.

Christopher

Christopher,

I checked icons on rh side..only have two Norton icons..time,date and volume icon...instant messenger is not running. Have tried disabling two Norton icons and then hitting Ctrl F5 but it just won't download...gray dots are above category and it seems to be attempting to load but is unsuccessful. Do not know what else to try.

Hello,

From the Start button, go to run and type in 'msconfig.' From the 'startup' tab, disable norton from here, along with anything else you may not require (if you happen to notice any.)

When your done, click apply or ok, then say yes to the request to restart your machine and try again.

Let us know the results of your efforts.

Regards,
Christopher
