Not being able to get category bar to work on Vendio is an Ebay Toolbar problem. Just was notified by Ebay. They have updated the toolbar. They said to uninstall the old toolbar and then go to their site and reinstall. I did and it worked great. Category Bar now working fine. Thanks Alot and hope this helps someone else.

Hi. How do you do that?

Mommoo, if you installed the toolbar that sits just below your IE browser to access ebay easily then this is probably your problem. They updated the toolbar and asked that we re-install. (If you have XP) Go to start on your computer, click on settings, click on Add or Remove Programs, Go down the list to ebay toolbar and click on it until it is highlighted and click remove. This will uninstall the old toolbar. Once that is done go to Ebay.com and click on the top where it says site map. Go all the way to the bottom on the left, you will see ebay toolbar. Click that and follow through downloading it again. Once it is downloaded completely, turn off your computer for a minute and then restart it. This should solve your problem. Let me know.

Hi weddingsister. Thank you for answering. I followed your directions but I didn't have an e-bay toolbar installed. I went ahead and installed the new one but it didn't help. So I un-installed it. Now I am stuck. I have written Vendio about it. I have also asked for help here and have gotten no answer. I have Windows 98. I can list if I put the category # in the little box but I have to look it up for every listing. There have not been a lot of people writing about this problem - I wonder why - must be something with my computer and as you can tell I am not great with these technical problems. If you can give me anymore guidance I would appreciate it.

It's not just you, I'm also having difficulty with the categories. Nothing I do seems to work.

I am so sorry Mommoo, I know how frustrating it is when something like this happens. Try as Deb mentioned in the other post, Log out of Vendio with the Log Off button up on the right.(I also removed Vendio from my favorites folder), I wasn't taking any chances) Now go to tools (at the top of your 98 browser)Go down to internet options and click on it. In the middle of the blue screen under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Cookies, once it finishes click OK, go back to the same place and then click on Delete Files,(if you don't do this often, it may take awhile)Once it stops, click ok again and
restart your computer. Now just type in www.vendio.com and log in, then resave to favorites. Hope it helps, if not just one more thing, if you don't take regular critical updates with Windows you may have to go and do that! Good Luck.

Well, I did all of your suggestions. I logged off, removed Vendio from my favorite places, Cleaned my cache - deleted files and cookies and history and upgraded the Windows critical updates. Shut down, restarted and guess what. I still have the problem. I wish I could get some input from someone at Vendio.

Moomoo, is this is a new problem for you? Was it working fine in the past? Is your status bar (the grayed out dots next to the categories) progressing or is it frozen?

Typically when Ebay makes these changes the delays occur over the next day or two.

Best Regards,

DarinCS, I am also having the same difficulty. The "grayed out" area in the category dropdown is not doing anything at all. Normally the dots blink to let you know it is searching. I have had this problem all day. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I don't have any dots. I just have the bar there as I always have. It won't do anything - press the arrow and nothing happens. I have only had the problem today - everything worked normally yesterday. As I said, the only way to list is for me to put the actual number into the # box next to the bar. I have tried everything, as I said in my earlier post.

Hello Lex85 and Mommoo,

Please make sure that you have installed the latest Windows and Internet Explorer updates. Also, when trying again, please stop any programs that might interfere with the page load (such as firewalls or ad filtering software).

Then, please hit Ctrl + F5 and, in case that the category chooser is still not working properly, please let us know what is the behavior:
- do you see the page loading? Can you notice the status bar (the grayed out dots next to the categories) progressing?
- when the progress stops, do you have the "Category | Top Category" drop-down and the 5 lists underneath it? Do they list the category names?

Thanks,

-Radu

For me the suggestion from weddingsister to clean cookies and files, delete from favorites and start with a clean slate worked. I did have to disable my Norton Internet security the first time I tried to load the page, but it reloaded with Norton enabled. Thanks for the tip. FYI, I'm running XP and have all current updates from Mike Rowe Soft inc.

Radu. I disabled all the Norton components(task sch. anti-virus and internet sec)and that alone didn't work but I did the ctrl+5 and kept holding it down and the load bar filled several times. I tried the category arrow again and IT WORKED. Then I enabled the Norton components again and tried it and it worked. I don't have any dots but the pull down works just fine. Thank you so much!!!!!!!

Hey, I forgot to ask. Why did this happen and is this something I have to be concerned with in the future when changes are made? Why did it happen to just a few of us?

Hello Mommoo,

I'm glad to learn that it works now!

The problem was either the local cache, or some proxy on the Internet, which failed to update properly when the page changed at Vendio. Just try the Ctrl + F5 trick if it happens again in the future.

Thanks,

-Radu

Radu Thanks for your answers. I have one more question. Why don't I have these dots everyone is talking about?

Hello,

The dots are just an indication that the page loads from the Internet. Once it is in your browser cache already, the page loads much quicker, and the dots will no longer show.

Thanks,

-Radu
