Hello again Radu, first I'd like to thank you for sending me to check for Windows Updates yesterday. My system is much quicker with that new driver! THANK YOU!!!
As I stated yesterday, after updating downloads, clearing cookies, cashe, turning of Norton, shut down/ restart... blah blah blah, the catagory bar was clearly there AND working fine.
However, since 7am this morning (its now 10am here) .. I have been "fussing" trying to get the darn thing working AGAIN! Today... as early yesterday.. no pull down.. no progress "dots" ..nothing.
I have tried just EVERYTHING.. running thru IE.. CTR F5 etc. .. for three hours now. I even did a "system restore" which I created after all my updates yesterday.. and it just isn't there. What the heck do you think is causing this????? What other tips do you have that I may have overlooked? Please help!
There yesterday.. gone today?
This all started after eBay changed their catagory page.... should I contact them.? I don't have their eBay toolbar.. and don't want it! Please ..I am sorry to ask, HELP again! Deb

Oops.. I forgot to tell you (if it makes any difference).. when I am running thru internet expoler and do the CTRL F5 thing, the "progress dots" appear for only about 3 seconds.. then boom! They go away!!! and the page stops trying to load. The number in the "catagory box" is always at 0.. and I can physially "type in" a catagory number if I look it up which then works but just a super hassle.

Hi debshope If you read the other thread on this subject you will see that I had the same problem. If you have Norton you need to disable it while you try to fix this problem. Also when I hit the control F5 I had to hold them down for quite awhile to see it completely load. I was as frustrated as you are but so far this worked for me. Did you restart your computer after all the loading. I don't know if that matters - it is just a thought. I don't have any dots so I don't know about that.

Hi Mommoo~ Thanks for stopping by.. and seeing my problem continues.
Yes! I turned off Norton and restarted, cleaned everything.. and held the CTRL F5 button down .. down down..
I am having it BAD today.. at least yesterday I had some "hope" that SOMETHING would work. Today, I have exhausted all previous "tips" .. and am ready to pull my already-turning-gray hair out!
I can't think of anything ELSE I should be doing..
So you have the toolbar today? Was it there the first time you logged in? Thanks for trying to help. I am happy if its working well for you!! (Lucky Gal!) .... frustrated, and frazzled, DEB

I never had an e-bay toolbar. Yesterday I tried installing it hoping it would help with the problem. It didn't so I uninstalled it. Maybe you should uninstall yours and try again. I have no other ideas. I am not very good with computer problems. That is why I asked to be guided every step of the way. Hopefully Radu can help you. Keep us informed on your progress.

Hi Mommoo... noo.. I didn't mean eBay "toolbar" I meant the catagory bar. Did you have it first thing this morning?
I got on my husbands PC .. he doesn't have NORTON and runs on Windows ME, . Guess what? I can access the catagory pull down bar on HIS computer!! Its there! No dots.. but the catagory bar is there!! Now I have to figure out "why" ??? Its gotta be a confilct with Norton or XP? near I can tell.

Hi. I don't know about XP but with Norton I disabled 3 little icons down by the time at the bottom right - the task scheduler, the Internet security and the anti-virus. If you right click on those icons you will see "disable". I did that first and it still didn't work but I left them disabled to do the F5 solution. So one or the other or the combination of both worked. By the way I had to do that F5 solution a few times. You might want to give it another try.
