The pictures aren't showing for mine today either.
Just swirly things. (set n marquee)
If I click on one of the squares, it then takes me to the listing page, but I can't see any pics in the gallery before clicking. They were there yesterday.
I thought the idea of a gellery was for bidders and browsers to see an image first, then click on it. If they can't see anything, what's the point. They may as well just use the "view seller's items for sale" link on the listing page, and I can save my money!
What's up?

Hello,

I've checked all your galleries and they appear to be updated. If you are still having trouble with your gallery please clear your browser cache, and reboot your browser. I don't see any problems right now, I will check and see if something happened over the weekend.

Regards,

Sonya

There are some images today, but only in ONE category, and one is for a closed auction!
The other 2 categories wil not show at all, despite clicking on the "all categories" link. All that works is the link to "view my other auctions" which just gives the same auction-titles page as ebay's link on the listing page.
If the bidders can't see the images in one fell swoop without clicking on umpteen things to even get an image, I don't see this as promotional..more like an annoyance for bidders!
I will be away for a few hours, but will check for assistance replies later. Thanks.

I cleared everything and totally closed down the computer. I still see 5 out of 21 auctions. I tried on another computer and got a notice that I had to download some software. This is not what I bargain for?? Help

Hello --

In order to keep the item information in the Galleries as up-to-date as possible, our system relies on getting timely and accurate item information from eBay. The average expected lag-time between when eBay has updated item information and when it is reflected in your Galleries is 1 hr.

However, at this time, we are aware of an issue where eBay seems to be dropping certain item information updates and not reporting them to us. We are working closely with eBay to determine why this is happening and why it seems to be affecting some user accounts more than others.

We apologize for any inconvenience the causes you and thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues.

Lastly, please note that the Marquee style Gallery will scroll through a continuous loop of your item images - so if you have fewer than 7 items imported, the Gallery will fill the additional image slots with repeats of your item images, rather than displaying blank spaces. The repeated images will still direct users to the correct original item.

Please let us know if there is any additional information we can provide.

Hi - I just wanted to pop in and also explain that the Gallery utilizes Macromedia Flash to display your items quickly and efficiently, while using a minimum of system resources.

If you are attempting to view the Gallery from a system that does not have Flash installed, or has an outdated version (lower than 6.0), you will be prompted to install or update the application. The installation process is very quick and painless, and once it’s installed you should be able to view all Galleries with no problem. If you wish not to install Flash, you will still be able to view the listing, just not the Gallery.

Thanks,

Diana

Thank - my other computer is about ready for the trash pile and won't install anything else at the moment? But my laptop is the one I use most anyway? So my images are at question here not my computer.

Cristina
Thanks for the honest reply - at least now I can forget about it and go to other issues. Will there be a way to know when this is resolved?
I am thinking of cancelling it for now as I feel it will hurt my sales (some will think it's all I have listed) - will I be charge for the full month or not??
Thanks

None of my gallery items updated yesterday at all- it showed items without bids, and then showed items that had closed hours before.

Now today, I just clicked on one of my auctions and the new gallery is only showing up as 'red curtains' with 'click here to see this item' (and it took quite a while for the 'gallery' to fully load- although my auction pictures, etc came up just fine in normal time)...whats up with that?

Hi Sfnyartist,

I checked your gallery and I do not see any red curtain images. I've also checked your gallery in our system against your eBay seller list, and everything is now updated.

Ladyjewels2000 -- I have deleted your other thread about the 'two more in the gallery' since everything is now updated. Thank you for your patience, and good luck with your sales!

Sonya

Unfortunately then, I am seeing something different than you. What I see is for each image, it is a 'stage area with red curtains that have gold fringe on the bottoms' and it has a spot-light shining on the curtains. It says 'click here to see this item'... I'm not kidding...every single item is this image. I have refreshed (thinking maybe this is what you see when it is updating) and its still the same 'stage with red curtains'. The proper titles are there for each one with currect bid price/bids, and the catagory is there (the only one I use: Art). I will dump my temp files and see what happens, but I think this is a bit more than strange.

sonyaCS: Thank you all for the time and effort you are obviously devoting to this, and for the personal attention.

I went to one of my auctions about an hour ago, and scrolled straight to the gallery, and was doing the "happy dance" , they were all showing merrily on the marquee......

BUT..by the time I went back to the top, and read my description etc. and then got down to the gallery...Lo-and-behold, all but one image had gone, titles only, and it's back to the dreaded red-curtains ("Tales From the Crypt", you could have added a little Funereal music gif there! bet that would have spurred some clicks on the curtains, eh?)

I'm about to list a couple more. Maybe I'll try the "basic" design. Unfortunately, I can't preview the gallery because I got a message last time that javascript was disabled on my 'puter, which I haven't done!

I'll check back later!

Now, I just happened upon someone elses auction that had the Vendio gallery and sure enough, their images appears as red curtains also...

Hi, uglimouse & sfnyartist --

Regarding the "Red Curtains" image: these will appear in your Gallery if there is not an available item image to show or if an item image is taking too long to load.

Having just looked at a few items for both of you, I see that there are images for all your items in your Galleries, so the red curtains you're seeing are likely due to slow load-times. To help us better understand this issue, if and when you encounter this again, can you please provide an item number and describe the system, browser and internet connection you're using?

Thanks --

Good Morning.
Another day, another bunch of red curtains.
( How about you, sfnyartist?)

Today, all my categories are listed in the drop-down box (thank you), but NO IMAGES at all ! What's more, the curtains are remaining stationary after a
few seconds, not even zooming along.

If I click the "all categories" link, I get the white swirly stars, forever!

I have always had the image-sizing, by Vendio, checked in my Vendio preferences, and haven't changed it. Even without it, my images are well within the limits.

I use IE 6.0, Windows 98.

I only have a few items listed until this gets sorted out, as I don't want to P.O. the bidders too much, (as I get when browsing auctions and seeing the Andale galleries not working, when I wanted to view the sellers auctions at a glance!)

Here are the auction numbers:
4160495642 , 3716088603 , 4103519815 , 3670628788 , 4142781358 , 4142791165

I just manually entered the gallery into my auction templates and they are NOT automatically scrolling. Any reason for this??

Hi there,

After loading, the Marquee style Gallery scrolls through an initial set of items automatically, until it detects that a viewer's mouse has entered the Gallery's viewing area. Note that sometimes, when scrolling quickly down the length of an item listing, the mouse will go through the Gallery's viewing area for a moment, which can thus trigger a stop to the scrolling. Please try refreshing your page and scrolling down with the vertical scrollbar to view the Gallery, so that your mouse does not enter the Gallery viewing area.

We are looking at ways to improve the scroll function, but in general it should work unless your mouse has entered the viewing area.

Thanks,

Diana

I was just popping in to say that when I checked my auctions this morning, all of my images in my Gallery appeared just fine. However, I just double-checked, and to my surprise...the 'red curtains' are back! without any images

I am running in IE 6.0/Windows XP...

I use Roadrunner and have no problems with load-time on anything else.

uglimouse, how about you? are your images still around?

I think what I am NOW worried about is: if I am having a problem with the images loading in a timely manner (with cable connection), then what about potention buyers who use dial-up? Is that all they will be able to see is those red curtains?

Just checked in Thursday morning on West Coast.
Hi sfnyartist!: Mine are all working very well today. I have 2 on "marquee," and the rest on "basic". Both seem to be doing what they're supposed to, and loading fairly quickly.
I like the "zoom" feature on the marquee, but don't know if bidders will find the sideways scrolling annoying on the eyes.
The "basic" is easier on the eyes, but is much slower and requires the viewer to do more. Personally, today I'm just glad it's working!! (touch wood!)

I went back and forth to see if they worked more than once in a row, Sfnyartist, and they did. I even put the mouse in the "danger zone" a few times, and it didn't seem to bring everything to a schreeching halt, as we were warned.
Glad that's not happening, as I think that including "scrolling instructions for non-Vendio customers" in our listings, would be a Perfect Pain.

The other gallery thread has AOL users having problems, so I hope that fixing that still keeps ours on track!

I joined the gallery on Tuesday and have yet to have even 1 picture show up in my Marquee. Have about 30 auctions which should be showing, but just have the swirling stars. If I click on the box it will take me to my auction, but no pics. Not only that, but I changed my preference to basic to see if that would help, saved it but it did not change the display at all. It is still Marquee. I've cleared my cache, checked my preferences and refreshed, refreshed, refreshed with no change. I may have to quit this as it is too frustrating. Also makes my auctions look terrible. I have AOL 9.0. Any ideas?

Hello --

Once you have launched an item with a specific style of Gallery, that style cannot be changed on that item, because the Gallery Flash code is embedded within the item's description. You can, however, change the Gallery style and have that style used on all your future new listing launches.

The swirling stars graphic is the graphic we display as we are loading your item images into Gallery. If there are no images for an item, or if the image is taking too long to load, the Gallery will display the "Click to see this item" Red Curtain graphic as a placeholder, rather than taking up more time and bandwidth trying to load the image.

Because the Galleries are complex and image-intensive applications, they are best viewed over high-speed internet connections with fast proxies. It does appear that some internet service providers have proxy servers that are slowing down the connection, which leads to a delay in loading the item images in the Gallery. If you are experiencing slow load times obtaining your Gallery's item images, this does not mean that all your buyers will too. For example, I have checked and see complete sets of item images in coincoach's Galleries.

We are continuing to investigate what we can do to improve load times for those who are experiencing slow load times.

Please let us know if there is any additional information we can provide --

Thanks --

VD is an internet service. Why not make it any connection accessible? If you are a progressive internet company, it should be any service accessible. Not just broad band or cable. Serve all the customers, not just a chosen few. We are dealing with a large variety of access personal and services.
If VD can only access certain sevices or capablities of accessing certain services, they need to let all concerned know.
From the questions and answers given by VD, the service only has certain capablities. Please be honest with your paying customers.

Thank you Christina. Things have improved, but not much. I now have 1 picture out of 30 that loaded immediately. No other pics loaded, even after waiting about 2-3 minutes. A few hours ago I had 4 pics load right away, but not the rest of my 30 auctions. It seems to be pretty hit and miss. Although I have dial-up, I have never had a lot of trouble with slow loading. Also, glad to hear you see my gallery of pictures (all 30?) but what about my customers. Not all of them have cable modems or DSL. Hopefully, these problems will be resolved soon, otherwise it is really not worth it, even for $ 2.95 a month. My auctions look unprofessional with these missing pictures and that's not good. I'm looking to enhance my auctions, not sabotage them.
