I am very interested in offering combined shipping to my customers. Obviously, doing so saves them money on shipping, and indirectly encourages them to purchase more, but my question is this. Were my customer to win an auction and pay for it immediately after it ended, they would pay for shipping obviously. Then two days later, they purchase another item, along with it's requested shipping amount. Well now they have paid slightly more than they would if it was calculated as a combined purchase. Is it advised to tell the customer not to pay until right before I plan to ship (which is clearly an unsatisfactory solution)? Or does the system know that I have set the magic number to three days in global preferences, and should he make two seperate payments, as in the example above, the second purchase he makes will have it's shipping costs automatically downgraded to reflect this combined shipping? Or is it some other way that I have not seen?

Hi there,
The auto-combine setting will allow items that are purchased within the stated window to be combined and shipping discounts applied, however, obviously our system will not know if a buyer will be making another purchase or not. This is a policy you would need to set and communicate to your buyers in the listing and/or as they check out. If a customer pays for a purchase right away (which is optimal for you), and then they make another purchase within the stated timeframe, you would need to send out another WBN with the adjusted amount reflected - so this scenario does require some manual adjustment.
