They don't seem to understand that ONLY customers in MY state are to pay sales tax. Could this be made clearer in the checkout? 90% of my customers are paying various percentages of sales tax, which I then have to refund. They seem to be selecting from 2% to 50%
If there is a setting that I need to change....a BIG note that I could leave for them, I'd appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction
You have some flexibility to clarify this yourself under My Account -> Post Sale Mgt. Options. The text box located under the Sales Tax option will allow for more text to be added (you can bold the text or change the text color using HTML as well, to make it more noticeable.)

How about letting us set the tax rate for our state in preferences? This has been asked for over the years and blown off by Vendio.

Well, I put a note....in BIG RED LETTERS..that the tax ONLY applied to items shipped within my state....
I'm still getting buyers paying tax from ALL 50 states.
Can't the tax be set up so that a buyer within my state be the only buyers who receive this "multiple choice/put in whatever figure you want tax option"? This makes my buyers think that I'm not quite sure (or professional enough) to figure out the taxes.
When I purchase items at large, web based stores, they always seem to know whether to tax me or not.
I'm finding that it's easier and less work for me to just send buyers an eBay invoice, rather than the Vendio checkout. Which, of course, they then bypass my store....which defeats the purpose of using the Vendio checkout.

I agree with everyone else here. I have a very clear message in my options about who is required to pay sales tax and who should not. Most of my customers include the sales tax with various rates. The only ones who don't pay it are the ones that should.
Some out of staters will pay it and then complain. I have had some get really mad about it.
It seems like a simple thing to set up. I put in my tax rate for my state in my preferences. If the customer chooses my state in their shipping address, they will be charged the rate I selected in my preferences. The customer should not have a choice.
How is this different from shipping charges? If the customer chooses Priority Mail, they are charged based on the weight I entered.
Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.

Again....I just got paid sales tax from California (8.25%). Big red letters in my checkout say "Pay Maryland tax only if this item is being shipped within the state of Maryland".
These are not buyers new to eBay...they are seasoned buyers. The Vendio multiple choice/pick your tax checkout is just NOT clear to these people!
What a bookkeeping nightmare! Well, I'm off to refund this buyer.....
