I have had people request to leave their credit card information in the "message" part of the checkout. Is that secure? Is there any other way I can integrate authorize.net into the checkout?

The Vendio checkout is secure. A lot of other customers are using this space to allow buyers to submit their CC number.

I'm not sure what authorize.net is. Is this a merchant or credit card processing company?

authorize.net is a credit card procssor - like Verisign.
I'll have them use the message area.
