Good morning, listed an auction last night for the very first time and ebay errored it out twice. They claim the reserve price is too high as compared to the last time it listed. This is impossible because I just bought these this past weekend and they have never been on before. The auction in question is "PR FRENCH EMPIRE BRONZE TORCH LAMPS SCONCE SCONCES" - Please check this out and see what you can do to get it listed for tonight at 8:30PM. Now, there have been similar auctions on in the past that have had similar wording in the title and perhaps they are mixing it up with one of those. But I don't think so as I always try to word each auction a bit differently even if they are the exact same type of item. And this one says FREE SHIPPING which I have never had before on this type of item. So, they are messing up somewhere. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

I was able to successfully eBay Preview this item -- the eBay Preview will kick back any errors so it looks like it should launch. You can always open up the item and click the blue 'copy' button and launch the copy instead.

I only see free shipping up at the top of the description -- "Free Shipping from France". Is there another area I am missing?

Let me know if you have any more trouble with the item.

Regards,

Sonya

Au contraire mon ami, Sonya for the very first time in all these years I might have to disagree with you on this one. The reason being on an ebay preview I don't think it will show errors in Reserve Pricing or Buy it Now pricing. It will only show other errors like category and bad images etc. So, I don't think it will show up. I always check the previews before I launch to check images and my spelling etc. Anyway it shouldn't have happened to begin with. As I said in my post this is the very first time that this auction has been listed. So how can ebay say that the reserve is higher than the last time it listed?
If I use the copy feature will it launch at once or can I still schedule the time of my choosing? I might change the wording a bit in the title so they won't think it's the same auction. I'll try to fool them. "LOL". Merci beaucoup for your response, lets see what happens tomorrow morning. Steve

Sonya, one more thing, I listed the free shipping also under the subtitle. I'm going to have to start cutting back on my ebay costs. Between the dollar vs the euro and ebays high costs and then paypal takes their chunk it doesn't leave a heck of a lot left for profit. I wish their pricing was more in line with Vendios. life would be a lot more fun. I'm going to cut subtitles and 10 day auctions and wherever else I can. Between ebay and paypal they take about $30.00 to $40.00 on each of my auctions. That includes listing and reserve fees plus paypals cut of the pie. It has gotten to the point that I have to pass on a lot of beautiful things at the antique markets because I would have to raise the price so high to cover all of these costs that it probably would make the item unsaleable. And that is not even taking into account the money I lose on the dollar vs euro business. If I buy something for 100 euros it actually costs me $130.00 in dollars. Then when I get paid from the buyer they pay in dollars so I lose another 30% coming back the other way. The only way that I can still make a decent profit is if I sell an item to a buyer in Europe that pays in euros. But that's what makes life interesting I guess. All I know is that it just isn't as much fun as it used to be. Work harder for less money. At least I have you to listen to my complaints which hopefully I don't do too often. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for letting me know it didn't appear in your initial preview...usually items will show there if they are going to error out. If you click on Copy it will take you to the edit screen for the copy -- it won't launch the actual auction. So, you are safe to try this.

Good luck with the rest of your sales, too!

Regards,

Sonya

Well Sonya, I was right. This never showed up in the preview and it errored out again. Any suggestions on how to get this auction listed would be appreciated. I have had some weird things happen with ebay over the years, but this is one of the weirdest. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

That is weird, since I know that you mentioned this is a first time listing of that item. That error only shows up if you are doing a relist and you drop the reserve price error.

Did you try doing a Copy like I suggested? Launching a Copy is like launching a brand new listing -- it separates it from the one you copied (hard to explain so I hope you understand what I am saying here). If your copies are the ones erroring out, I will forward this on to engineering to see what is actually halting the listing of the item.

Sonya

Bonsoir Sonya, I tried the copy method and it showed up under Pending Listings again. I wasn't quite sure if that was supposed to happen so I played safe and did nothing. What I did do though was cut and paste the text into a new auction, changed the wording in the title a bit and launched for tonight at 8:15 or 8:30 Pacific time. Will see what happens tomorrow morning. If it happens again I will contact ebay and see what little imp is causing this to happen. I would appreciate it if you pass it by your people as well. It just shouldn't be happening. Au revoir, Steve

Bonjour Sonya, well I fooled them. That does give me such tremendous satisfaction. It's like a win for the little guy. I changed the wording around a bit in the title and it launched. So this morning I revised it and went back to the original wording that I had in the first place.
Now, I would like to know how and why it happened. I wrote to ebay to see what they would have to say and I would appreciate it if you can run it past your engineering people and see if they can come up with some answers. Will let you know what ebay says when I hear from them. Thanks again for your help and understanding. Steve

Hello,

Thank you for writing in about this, my name is James, and I would be
happy to help.
Hi Sonya, wanted to brong you up to date. Attached is the idiotic reply I received from ebay. Don't these people read? My email to them clearly stated that this was a first time listing. This jerk writes back it had to do with relisting an item with a reserve that did not have one before. I firmly believe that Vendio is one of the very few companies that actually reads a customers emails without just sending back some meaningless generic response. Ebay of course blames it on Vendio. Ebay never has been a company that accepts responsibility for their mistakes. I'm surprised that he didn't also tell me to "CLEAR MY CACHE" - that old dreaded response most companies give when they don't know how to fix a problem. Matye you can come up with a fix or a why it happened. Anyway as I said in another post the auction is now listed. Thanks, Steve

Attachment from ebay

I recommend contacting Vendio for more assistance listing with their
software. We have no information as to why you would be getting an error
using their services. In the meantime you can try listing from the sell
button on any eBay page. I suspect it has to do with relisting an item
with a reserve, that did not have one before.

It was my pleasure to be able to assist you. We appreciate that you
chose eBay, and I wish you success with all of your eBay auctions!

Regards,

James L. W.
