I am going on vacation for a week and I am trying to figure out the best thing to do about my ebay store. I have over 1,600 auctions running in my store. If I shut it down for that amount of time, then I loose out on the sales. The other option is I could keep it running and just put in the vacation setting that "I am on vacation and I will not be shipping or answering emails until I return. "Please do not bid if you need you item before that date"
.......But, as we all know, a lot of people DO NOT READ! I have been selling for 5 years and so far so good. I don't have any negs. I bend over backwards and go out of my way to please customers. I just have a feeling if I leave everything running with the vacation setting saying "you are welcome to bid, but I will not be shipping until I return" that I will be getting negs from people saying I did not get back to them to answer their questions or I did not ship right away after payment was made.
What would you do?

I'm not sure how much $$ is involved when you say you'll lose out on the sales. Just a thought...how about setting vacation mode but restarting it a day or so before you return? Do you have access to the internet either through a hotel, place you are staying or local library?
I think losing a few sales is just part of going on vacation. You must have already decided the money issue to have planned your vacation so is it worth risking a few negs if someone buys something the first day you're gone but won't receive it until 10 or 12 days later? (even if you ship on day 9 after your 8 day vacation...mail takes time)
And you're correct, no matter how many times, how big the print, or if its the only words in the listing....there is someone who is not going to see or read that you're not available.
