I'm trying to RE-set my global preferences since the Vendio checkout *enhancements* came along.
When I get to the shipping, I select USPS Priority. The first column says $4.95 (which is correct). The second column now says "Cost when combined"
Does "Cost when combined" mean the actual cost added for a second (or third item); or is it asking for the amount that I will discount off of the first shipping charge? Or, does it mean that each of the 3 items shipped will be shipped at whatever amount I put in?
Am I the only one confused by the verbage "cost when combined"?
Click the little question mark/baloon next to the 'cost when combined' wording to get a full popup window with all of the details about this feature explained.

Chris, I gave 3 scenarios. Which one is correct? Also, I read the *instructions* and they're simply not clear to me.
The "cost when combined" field means that when factoring in your discounts for combined orders, this is what the cost would be.
This is not what the amount to be discounted from the total would be, rather the actual cost once combined and factoring in the discount you have setup.
You can either leave it with your default discount or you can manually change it to whatever you want.
Your default amount for shipping just shows up when you go to list a brand new auction.
This doesnt mean that everything you launch will all have USPS Priority Shipping at $4.95 as an option, unless of course you decide to post it that way.
The "Cost when combined" shows what the discount is for the amount in the shipping field.
In your example, if your shipping cost for this item is $4.95 and your discount is setup at $1.45 off each additional item in the order, then if this item has your discount applied as the result of being in an order, then the 'cost when combined' is $3.50.
So, in your case, since your global preference for a discount on items in an order is $1.45 off each additional item, whatever you put into the first shipping box is going to show up in the "cost when combined" box at minus $1.45.
You can test this yourself, just put anything into that first box for a shipping cost and you'll see that once you click enter, the "Cost when combined" will be $1.45 less - as a result of your settings for this scenarion.

Ok, so if you ship all items for one price (as I do), then you enter the same amount in costs when combined as your first column. Therefore the deduction on 2nd, 3rd, etc. orders will be 100%.

If you ship all items for the price of one, then please enter a 100% discount in the "Cost when combined" Discount field, inside the "Other Shipping Section" of the My Account / Global Preferences page.
Consequently, the Cost when Combined value for your item will be automatically set to 0.
If you have edited manually some items and already entered a Cost when Combined, the entered price will apply. If you need to re-establish the linkage to the preferences value, simply delete any input you've placed in the Cost when Combined field.

AAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!! Who writes this stuff (instructions) anyway? I've been battling this one all week. I charge $2.85 for the first item and 25 cents for each item after that. I'm still not convinced that putting $0.25 in the second column means that my shipping policy is being accepted by Vendio. Also...why do we have to now mark EACH new listing (for combined shipping on eBay)??

$2.85 as shipping cost for the first item, and $0.25 as cost when combined is indeed the right setup in your case.
As for combined shipping on eBay, I assume it is the "Apply shipping discount for multiple purchases in eBay checkout" checkbox you refer to. Please make sure that this is checked in the eBay Site Specific page in My Account:
