I had the following email exchange tonight: Email from customer:
Although you sent me a confirmation for shipment to Bernice xxxxxx, 371 xxxxxx Rd., Greenwich, CT. 06831 (the proper address) the package actually went to Boca Raton, FL. 33433. I had to have it reshipped to Greenwich at a cost of $18.35 because of your error. Please credit one of the shipping charges and advise. Thank you, Bernice Miller.
I replied that I state quite clearly that when paid by PayPal, I will only ship to the PayPal confirmed address in the notification. I state that in a few places.
HOWEVER, it would be much better if it were an option that I could set that I DON'T WANT AN ADDRESS ENTERED IF YOU'RE PAYING WITH PAYPAL right in the checkout. Why ask for an address in this situation? I mentioned it before, and it was put into the big enhancement hopper. Right next to the "when is SMP going to have the new shipping calculator options."
Sorry to be testy, but I now have a choice between a displeased customer or paying for unnecessary shipping out of my own pocket.
Let's please move on this request that seems to me to be very reasonable.
Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear that this mixup has happened to you. I will go ahead and log a request for this with Product Development -- I know this is not what you want to hear, but I unfortunately can't do anything to make this request happen instantly except assure you that the right people are reading it.
I wanted to follow up to let you know that PayPal and eBay are working with us on an enhancement to the overall checkout flow to correct as many of the confirmed address issues as possible. I think this solution will be much more robust than bypassing the address.
We are also evaluating to see if some use of the new Website Payments offering can help here as well.

Thank you for following up; I appreciate it.
As an old-time software developer, I understand the balance that has to be met between small incremental deliverables and "big bang" implementations. While I would love a seamless integration between Vendio, PayPal, and eBay for checkout, I think that a user-selected option will be required for either an incremental or "all-in-one" upgrade to checkout; not all Vendio users are as adamant about confirmed addresses as I am (as is their right, of course) so they would want to allow the entry of an alternate address.
So, if it is at all possible and not overly costly for you, I sure would love the "when PP selected; no address info taken" switch.
In either case, I appreciate your following up and letting me know that my concerns are taken seriously.
