Hi: No matter what template I click on, in "custom templates," I get this message:

"error occurred while trying to display the template preview (Internal error 12008: invalid layout number: Layout -1.)"

What gives?! I've NEVER seen this message before, and I cannot preview any templates except my default one. Is this a temporary problem (I hope)? ~Adele

Hi there,

I logged into your account, went to the custom templates section, and even previewed templates with no problem.

The problem you have described may be related to a full browser cache. In order to clear the cache and free up system resources, please take the following steps:

In Internet Explorer, look under "Tools" in the top menu bar. Open "Internet Options", and the option to clear the cache will appear under "Temporary Internet Files" in the "General" menu. It is always a good idea to clear the History, as well.

In Netscape, look under "Edit" in the top toolbar, and open "Preferences". Click the box next to "Advanced", then "Cache". You will want to clear both the disk and memory cache.

If you are using AOL, first go to the 'Settings' button at the top of your AOL window. Click on it, then select 'Preferences' from the list. On the following window that comes up, click on the 'Internet Properties (WWW)' link. From here, delete your Temporary Internet Files, and click OK when finished.

You can also click the "refresh" or "reload" button on your browser toolbar while pressing the Shift key on your keyboard.

Please let us know if this problem persists.

Thank you!

Bob

Hi, moderator: I've done everything you've suggested, and I still get that error message. I can't help but think that the "layout" part of the error message is trying to tell me something, but I'm darned if I know what. I am really up a creek if I can't work in the Template Workshop! I'd appreciate any help you can give me. ~Adele

Hello Adele,

I checked that section as well and could not reproduce the error. Did you try rebooting your system yet?

Regards,

Sonya

Sonya: Thanks! When I rebooted this morning, it all came up perfectly without that error message. Appreciate the help.

On the downside, it's been 4 months since I created some new templates--and the frustration level is back with me, having to relearn how to do that--the tricks of the trade.

If there's a chance someone will be revising the directions for creating custom templates, that person needs to involve a new Vendio user, asking him/her to go into Custom Templates and try to maneuver through it. It's still confusing, after all these years, for me!

Thanks. Adele
