I recently signed up for a Vendio account and am currently trying to figure out how to set up auctions using the Vendio online tool vs. eBay Turbo Lister which I have been using for several years. My biggest confusion is regarding the shipping options presented in the web based Sales Manager.
I am in the habit of specifying domestic shipping costs but not specifying a shipping method, rather choosing between UPS, DHL, Priority Mail or First Class Mail after the sale so as the determine the most economical shipping method to wherever the buyer is. Am I correct in assuming that I do not have the option of choosing what Turbo Lister/eBay calls "Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service" with Vendio?
Furthermore, I do not understand the options available for "eBay Shipping and Payment Details." What is the difference in the way the auction is displayed if I choose "I am specifying shipping costs for eBay checkout" vs. "I am not specifying shipping costs for eBay Checkout?" If I choose the latter do I need to put the shipping charge in the description of the item? Does this mean the shipping charge will not show up in the eBay shipping cost column on search results? How does the shipping charge get calculated at checkout?
Lastly, I sell item internationally, but I ask that potential buyers contact me for shipping rates because there are many options for global shipping. Is there a best way to handle this within Vendio?
1. If you use fixed shipping charges, but do not want to enter a specific carrier, we recommend that you use one of the free-text shipping fields (entries 6 to 8). You should enter a generic name of your choice, such as "Other" or "Flat Rate Shipping Service", and enter the cost.
2. If you choose "I am specifying shipping costs for eBay checkout", the shipping information will be displayed inside the eBay "Shipping, payment details and return policy" section. You will want to choose this if you use eBay checkout, or Vendio checkout with eBay Checkout Redirect.
If you choose "I am not specifying shipping costs for eBay Checkout", shipping and handling information will be displayed automatically inside the description. You will choose this if you use Vendio checkout (where these shipping charges will be automatically added to the order).
Just make sure that the Vendio preference "Display Shipping and Handling options and Custom Shipping Note in listing" is set. This preference is visible in the My Account / Global Preferences page.
3. If you do NOT check "Offer international shipping", international buyers will be asked to contact you for rates.
