A while back I was idly bidding on Ebay for another Playstation platform to use as a spare. I saw something which sounded really good -- a PSX card to enable me to play the Japanese versions of such games as Final Fantasy IV and V. Ignorance is bliss, though. I bid on it, then received an email from Ebay the next day saying that the item in question was illegal, i.e., a copyright violation item. They gave me, the bidder, the benefit of the doubt. (Good thing, huh?) The listing was canceled of course and the seller was warned. A few hours later I get a SPAM email from that same seller offering to sell me that same item privately. I hate SPAM and sent the whole email, headers included, to Ebay Safe Harbor. They suspended the seller immediately. I'd hate to think, though, what might have happened if I'd gotten greedy and bought the item in a private sale. I could have been fleeced (no recourse then) or even found myself in trouble with the law. Lucky I wore my thinking cap!
