Okay, in a nutshell I sold a Radko ornament on ebay, had problems getting the person to pay. Finally she did with a check, waited 10 business days and sent it the beginning of January. I got the check back 2 days ago. She closed the account AND she has my ornament! I went to SafeHarbor(which is pro-bidder). Only if I'm the bidder will they do a fraud investigation. I got her user info, she won't respond. Negative feedback is great, but she's at -1 now. (1 positive, 2 negative). NOW what can I do?

Thanks everyone!

HERE IN TEXAS IT'S CALLED THEFT BY CHECK AND IS A MISDEMEANOR. YOU FILE A POLICE REPORT. IT WON'T DO ALOT. HOWEVER IT SHOULD PUT A ARREST WARRENT OUT ON HER..... YOU CAN DREAM ABOUT HER PICKING UP HER INLAWS, GOING TO DINNER, BEING PULLED OVER FOR BAD BRAKE LIGHTS, OOPPS SHE HAS A WARRENT! HANDCUFFS AND JAIL.... IT COULD HAPPEN! GO FILE THE POLICE REPORT. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO FILE AT THE JUDGES HOT CHECK DIVISON. A WARRENT REALLY WILL BE ISSUE IF SHE DOES'NT CLEAR IT UP IN 10 DAYS. GOOD LUCK.

Another option would be to sue in small claims court and get a judgement. Although you probably won't get your money, it may prevent that person from buying a home and possibly a new car. It will stay awhile on their record until the judgement is paid.

Try getting in touch with the PD where she lives. A few people have had a bit of success with that.

PLEASE somebody write a general format for
contacting the police in the jurisdiction of
the BAD GUY. What happens to the BAD feedback when Ebay allows the Bad Guy to
change his User I/D?

This actually sounds like a forged check, to me. This would explain why the check took so long to bounce AND why the bank account was closed. The person who owns the bank account may not have noticed the charge for a couple of weeks, when she got her statement; then, realizing that someone had written a check against her account, she called the bank, cried 'fraud', and closed the account.

I would go to the police if I were you, but I would not be so positive that the person with whom you thought you were doing business was actually THAT person.

I had a check come back to me bad one time .I called the bank ,told them how it had been gone .From the time I deposited it . They said the check had to get back to in 10 days if it is bad. In a very short time . If not the bank was responible. The bank put the money back in my account.

I've never seen a bank take the responsibility for counterfeit checks. The ONLY way these things can be found is when the actual account owner notices the charge in their account. This can occur at ANY time, up to several years later, sometimes.

Fortunately, the Law is a bit tougher on them and there aren't that many floating around.
