I am trying to list my FIRST auction with Amazon and I get an error message saying I have HTML tags in my description that do not comply with Amazon. The only thing I can see would be the pay pal logo, but I chose the one that was supposed to comply with ALL action houses. CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME? THANKS.

Any time I have run into this, the info in red usually tells you what HTML is the problem. You also have to keep under that horrendous 4000 character limit. If this is the case drop tags like </P> & </font> - your end result will come out ok.

I'm having that problem right now as I type!

The red script doe not tell me which html tag is giving me the problem so I'm editing out as much html I can as and still make a attractive ad!

Amazon usually removes the offensive HTML TAG or extra verbage over 4,000 and all you have to do is continue on after you get the notice.

In other words, don't do anything else - Amazon has already removed the offensive HTML TAG or extra letters over 4,000.

When my ads run over 4,000 letters, Amazon usually just cuts off the Rubylane counter at the bottom of my page &/or the Links to other Amazon Auctions, YAHOO & Ebay that are just above the Rubylane Counter.

Sometimes I back up and cut and paste it back and change my ad to fit.

I just edited got turned down & edited again using auction watch manager oan it kept coming up as a error!
I copied & pasted everything over to the amazon listing page & it was accepted then.

Must be a minor glitch in the auction manager here, but either I got the auctions rolling & hopefully I'll drag some people out of amazons woodwork! lol

I just posted a response to this question in ksflatlanders thread in the Auction Manager forum.

There are certain HTML tags Amazon will not support. There is a link to them in that thread. But those may not be the problem.

I just started listing with Amazon yesterday on their site, and saw that they told me what the problem was if I listed there. But if you list an auction to launch from here, it just says there is a problem, not what it is.

I tried listing an auction from here and got the error message. I suspected that the problem was something in my global settings. So I posted the entire auction in Amazon, including my global text (good old cut and paste!) and found the problem was with the PayPal logo.

The HTML that PayPal gives us starts with < !-->start of paypal logo... and ends with something like that as well. The problem is the < !-->. That is what Amazon doesn't like. (I have put a space in the tag because I have had problems with the tag showing up in these posts.) You can take out the part that says < !-->start of paypal logo and the end part as well and it will not affect how the logo appears in your ad.

I forgot about those PayPal Tags -

Also, Amazon has Payment thru their 1-click which is super! If you sign up for Amazon 1-click, you do not pay 5% commission on auctions or z-shop. Even if customer does not use 1-click, you do not pay 5% - at least until end of year.

Where's Millecent? Boy she went round and round with Amazon about those paypal tags.
something about direct competiton with 1-click. I just use regular type not the tags. It's darn near impossible to get the referalls anymore, anyways. Too many buyer hoops.

THAT is just one of my problems with Amazon is their "special" type of listing system which doesn't fit with anyone elses -

BUT without buyers posting on Amazon is a waste of time - don't fight it move on to Yahoo, or eBay.

It is so very frustrating. When I think of how much I enjoyed Amazon auctions last year and this year unless I feature, nothing sells and if my item doesn't sell , I lose a lot of money to feature!. A lot of my customers who bought last week also wrote to say Amazon wrote to them to say they were first bidders with 10% off and of course they were not the first bidders and I hadn't received that notice but charged them the regular price! I have actually started listing on e-bay again! and I generally sell books which should always sell better on amazon, so it doesn't surprise me that the links to the listings don't show up. On the days when there is an acutal link to the auction site from Amazon's front page, I get more bids but that link seems to appear less and less. I am glad to vent here as this is my first online message ever! THanks for listening.
