Has anyone had to refund a buyer yet or cancel an order? Someone ordered a $45.00 book from me yesterday. Shortly after I received confirmation from Amazon to ship the item the buyer e-mailed asking if it could be returned if the person already had it and if it couldn't would I cancel the order.
By the way, this buyer did not identify the book or give any information whatsoever. I had only her e-mail address to go by. She also e-mailed twice with bits and pieces of information each time so I think I have a confused person to deal with. I've e-mailed her several times and she has not responded.
I've e-mailed Amazon and called them on the phone and received conflicting information so I thought I would come her for advice. One source said the buyer could cancel the order and the other source said they can't and that the only solution is if I issue a refund. Should I just issue a refund and be done with it. Should I wait for the buyer to respond? Should I keep contacting Amazon until I get someone who knows what they are doing?

You can't cancel l a auction order! Sit at an open auction, bid, and when it's over say you changed your mind - see what happens. CHARGE her a restocking fee! cover the auction fee, and your work (25%) I would!
She will avoid bad feeback, you break even. What about other bidders you lost on? You could have sold that item on the day it wasn't listed! Otherwise put up feedback and blacklist her!
This is close to the NON paying bidders that have pleged me!

I'm Assuming you are a Marketplace/zShop person since you mention SOLD (Not an auction)
It's probably better to just cancel the order & give her the refund now than deal with the problems involved with who pays & how much for shipping costs on the returned item.
