Hello, fellow amazon.com sellers and buyers. An interesting thread has started in the Round Table concerning changes to Amazon.com's Privacy Policy.

I thought it might be interesting to bring this issue here where other Amazon sellers and buyers might see it and join the discussion.

The original thread in the Round Table is called Amazon Is A Very Bad Girl.

I would love to hear what other Amazon users think about the privacy policy and the proposed boycott suggested as a possible response to Amazon's new privacy policy.

Good points are being made on both sides, would love to hear from others either on that thread or on this one.

Amazon is one of my favorite sites and these are important issues to this user.

thanks!

The policy is just business as usual. Any business that gets sold will transfer customer lists along with other company assets. Customer lists is what gives the company value in the first place.

If ebay were to be sold, the same thing would apply. The new owners would get the names and information on all registered users, otherwise every user would have to start all over again.

Apparently most people just skimmed the announcement and don't fully understand the meaning of it. Along with a lot of other things, much hype over nothing.

thanks jake. Actually I think the new policy is one of the steps Amazon might take prior to selling off one of their subsidiaries, just to clarify that if one of their companies is sold, that the new owner would be entitled to the business records which might include information on prior customers.

So I'm with you jake... I dont' see a need for worry or panic in this and also don't quite understand the reason for any boycott.

I'm quite happy with Amazon and would hope that if there were a boycott it would be ineffectual and have no real impact on my business there.

Thanks for the link Valerie, perhaps the info would also be useful to the people in the Round Table thread who were concerned about the need to start a boycott...

For myself, I am quite content at Amazon and the policy does not worry me...
