jbeier7154: You are so vituperative that I already have you on IGNORE. There is absolutely no reason for one person to go through and reply to so many old threads. You are not the first person to say this stuff. However I TRY to remain as positive as I can. Maybe you should try eBay. It is free listing day.

Valeriet:

Replying to old threads? Why not? I just realized this. I had not listed at Amazon for some time. Had no idea why sales were off. Why let this just fizzle? They have NO BUSINESS doing what they have done to people.

Remain as positive as you want. Amazon is reckless and has proceeded with great neglect. Maybe you have the time for this stuff....I don't. This is a large business and Amazon is a small part. However....We put a lot of time and effort into it. You might be intimidated and awed by them...I am not. The only way companies remember NOT to do this to people is by NOT letting them get away with it. They charged for the Pro Merchant Account. The Cross links were vital for us here. They deleted it without notice to assist themselves. If you sell something for a certain price.....It should include everything that was included in the original purchase price. It's like buying a business and having someone take away your advertising they sold you.

Remain as positive as you want. Positive does NOT pay your bills & increase your business/efforts. Ignore anyone and anything you want. That just patronizes people like this and encourages them do anything they want. There is such a thing as standing up for yourself in life. Trust me it works. I am not the most eloquent person in type....But I get my point across in an honest, straight ahead manner. I deplore silliness and patronizing large companies and hoping for the best. They don't listen unless you fight with them......

I couldn't agree more. I saw Amazon going down the tube early in the year, and stopped listing. But I came back for the holidays, with the hope of picking up at least SOME business. Not hardly worth the effort!! While I was maintaining Power Seller status on eBay, I sold 4 items on Amazon from all the same listings during the same period during the holiday season. What does that tell me?? They've initiated so much of their own competition to their sellers, it's a wonder many are staying around. And did you notice that you really have to hunt for the link to Amazon Auctions on Amazon's home page? But the links to their own shops are big and obvious. Two years ago it was a viable auction site, with good promise. Now, go thru any of the categories and count the winning bids on one hand, even during the busiest season of the year. I only use it because it's practically free, and anything I sell there is gravy to my other sites.

"1ST ONLINE AUCTION TO DESTROY IT'S SELLERS"

No, I think Bidbay, UBid and quite a few other fringe sites can lay a better claim to that title...though Amazon is giving them a run for their money.

I threw a few things up on Amazon during AW's Free Listing Day - not a single item sold the first time around... Hoping the 2nd time does better....

Amazon offered auctions to promote themselves, The sellers ( bless their hearts) have stood by them, tried to make the system work for them only to have Amazon show their true colors of "Greed" which I hope will make Amazon realize the internet is not such a safe domain to literally screw people, Amazon is slowly screwing themselves. Amazon was made by the auction sellers and zshop'ers not by Amazon's brilliance or business ethics. Yahoo and ebay Rock!! Amazon.... what goes around, comes around... it's called Karma.

rollanotherone: Yahoo rocks??!!! I've had fewer sales and many more deadbeat bidders there than on Amazon!!

Personally, I find ebay way too expensive for the inexpensive items I sell, & I still think Amazon is the best auction site to sell books. But I do agree with the general frustration & disappointment expressed here, as every change Amazon has made has only made my life more difficult.

I agree also, the first of the large auctions to do it, but Yahoo is now giving Amazon a run for their money, and don't you think eBay isn't celebrating!

I'm going back to eBay - the heck with this stupidity, particularly with a site with so few buyers. I'd rather pay more on eBay and have a huge base of buyers to offer to.

Hey! Try going to Yahoo! and reading those threads! Amazon is not committing suicide - it's a good 'ole shoot-out between Amazon and Yahoo! and both are obviously going to get shot down completely! and the the "big boy" will be left standing! And it STINKS! [ edited by capefeartrading on Jan 12, 2001 09:25 PM ]

Capefear - that is what I was saying - both Amazon & Yahoo are acting totally suicidal.

But Yahoo, at least to date, has been producing fantastically, which is more than I can say for Amazon.

BUT, both are acting like auctions who want to rid themselves of their sellers. I almost suspect that Amazon actually wishes to disappear as it doesn't seem to be an interest of the Amazon company any longer.

I went to check on some new books, and couldn't believe the AUCTION sign on the Amazon Book site was so small that I missed it totally the first time I looked for it. Obviously, a very unimportant part of the Amazon Company now.

I have to agree, with sadness too. I was a true amazon convert from eBay last year, auctions were GREAT on Amazon. Up until they first changed, and added z-shops, which I tried for awhile, with bad results. It kept going downhill from there, and I remained positive for a few Months, until finally leaving. I listed some around the holiday for a few weeks, zero sales 50-75 items. I keep listing a few here and there, hoping against hope the climate has changed, because I lOVED it here at Amazon, but I've pretty much given up. I am a small price item seller, so eBay isn't working for me anymore coupled with the good old PO increase. Guess I'm pretty much out of business, or at least coming to terms with it. It is really a shame, I was having so much FUN!!!! Hope you all have luck!
