I have been thinking of listing several hundred books, cd's and dvd's on Amazon, and the fees don't scare me as long as stuff sells.
But reading this board, I get the distinct impression that Amazon is getting ready to go out of business, at least the auctions part.
SO what do you think, if you had it to do over again, would you start fresh with Amazon today? Your answer will help me decide if I want to spend the time and suffer the obvious frustrations that appear to be involved.

I'm primarily a bookseller on eBay. I tried Amazon Auctions for about 6 weeks, with no results, no hits even. Relisted the same items at eBay, and several sold within 24 hrs. with BIN. (And I was using a Take-It Price at Amazon, as well, or whatever they call it.)

Amazon is a different beast. You can't use ebay tactics or have ebay expectations and be happy. But if you use it right it can work. That is until they change it...(g)

Amazon is a good place for books but I wouldn't suggest it for a new seller unknown to auctions, they have to much frustating downtimes, change things very often. Even Seasoned sellers have problems with the site. I would suggest ebay over amazon or Yahoo if you want to test the auction waters.

my suggestion would be to split your items into two groups, list some on Amazon Marketplace and auction the most desirable or valuable ones on ebay.

In one word, No! What a pathetic auction site. Unless you bid for placement, your listings may never see the light of day, it could remain on page 10 of the category and never be seen. When you do get bids, the cheapos raise their bids 10¢ at a time, and a $15 item sells for $2.30. How aggravating!
My brother does Featured front page listings on ebay, dutch. He'll put up four at a time and sell about 40 per, and repeat this for several months. He went to Amazon and tried the same thing. He was getting an average of 3 sales per. That says it all about Amazon being a total waste of time.
