There's something new every time I contact Amazon!

Now we need a US billing address/US bank account/US credit card....why don't they just tell us to get lost/or become American!!!

Here's what they just emailed me:

"Thank you for contacting us at Amazon.com.
This message is to touch base following our phone conversation. I
would like to thank you for your patience on the telephone. In
registering for Payments, you will have to have a valid US billing
address as well as a US credit card before you apply for Payments. I hope that this information helps you.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, and thanks for
selling at Amazon.com".

I am at my wits end with this.......

In order to be eligible for Amazon.com Payments, sellers must have access to a
U.S. billing address and a U.S. checking account.
Alternative payment methods including, but not limited to, check, money order,
and escrow may still be offered and accepted.
Transactions over $2,500 are not eligible for Amazon.com Payments. Therefore,
items sold above that amount will require an alternative payment method. Sellers
of such items must still register for Amazon.com Payments.
THis is copied from the sign up for one click
advertisment but as we all know, amazon loves to up the requirements on whim for us Canadians. A us credit card might be easier to get than a us bank account. But either way the deadline is too soon for me to acquire either one! However, I am just watching to see what amazon will do next!

The US bank account is still also required in addition to the address & now apparetly the US credit card.

If any of you have opened accounts in US Banks--ask them if they have Debit Cards with VISA or Mastercard Logos---work just like a Visa Card--I use mine all the time online.

You do not have a Line of Credit--funds come out of your bank account

Actually all sellers registered with Amazon.payments need a Credit Card---don't know why they didn't make that point clearer--make you jump through hoops only to find a wall to scale--and they also require the credit card's billing address to be US based .

https://payments.amazon.com/exec/help?r=seller-overview

"Please note that we cannot currently disburse funds to sellers who do not have both a credit card issued to a U.S. address and a checking account with a U.S. bank."

Do you have your Visa check/debit card and statement issued to a US address? Do you use a P.O. box or is it an actual street address?
Is your actual credit card (the one you use to pay the fees/commissions) the same as this debit card or do you have a Canadian addressed card AND this debit/check card.

thanks in advance for your help

My bank statement is mailed to my USA P.O. Box. It was originally mailed/registered to my Cdn address but whenever I tried to use the card--it was denied. The bank figured it needed a US billing address so we decided to use my PO Box. Works fine now.

Anything that I get charged in US dollars for (Amazon, Ebay etc) I use my US Visa/Check card. Paypal deposits into the US account and so does Billpoint. It use to be my Cdn Visa account but I figured the exchange rate would be to my advantage to use the Check Card.

Great thanks for the info!
Do you know if all major USA banks offer these debit cards with the Visa/Mastercard name? So Amazon had no problem accepting your method of enabling payments?

Do you have to have your mail forwarded to you from the US PO box to your Canadian address? Maybe Mailboxes Etc. offers this service?

I don't live that far from the border---2 hour round trip including a visit to the Gas Station/Grocery Store for Milk Duds--and I take advantage of the cheap BOOK RATE at the post office and mail all the books I sold on Amazon and elsewhere

The only problem I had with Amazon is that if you try to register once for payments and are denied--they freeze the ability to do it again and I had to fax them a bunch of things and then they opened it.

If it is inconvinent for you to use a PO Box--do you have any USA friends or family you can accept your mail??--

I don't know if the USPS forwards mail or not---but there are 4 places there that also have PO boxes---so I suppose they do.

You'll have to ask the banks if they offer the cards---the Bank I am using is 'Sterling Savings Bank'---but as far as I know they are quite common in the US
