I've just started putting up items on Amazon's auction site and in my first upload 9 of 12 auctions did not launch as scheduled due to an error in the html, supposedly, and the 3 auctions that made it up were without the pictures.

Now... I Do Know HTML. These images are the same images I put on a site at Geocities (simply a free place to get them online and linkable) and the links were proper. But they still show up as busted links on the listing. The html for the nine other listings is also copied out of files I have, which work fine on EBay through AW.

The images conform to all of amazon's requirements; less than 100k, etc and the html works fine on EBay for the 9 pages that didn't make it too Amazon.

I looked at the source of the Amazon listings and none of the html was changed at all but ...

The Links Would Just Not Work.

Ist this just a glitch or is amazon as crappy as I've read in past posts to this forum?

Thanks for any info about similar experiences or just for letting me vent.

I tried testing an image by pasting one of the urls listed and nothing came up. Then I
removed the thumbnail code from the front end
of the address. This leaves the original
geocities image address. It won't load either. Are you sure that these links are up? Whenever an image doesn't show on Amazon, I usually find the problem is at the storage site: bad upload, typo in file name or server problems. I would check your images again.

Good luck.

Sorry,

The links that were posted for the three auctions were just dragged from the control panel in the "auction manager" from within the AW site. Pasting the whole link in would get you to the listing page at the Amazon site in a perfect world.

The links that were embedded for one of auctions, ripped right out of the listing page and not off my hard-drive...

<img src="http://www.geocities.com/artttsupplies/easl_fr.jpg" width="250" height="458" border="0" alt="the easel ready to use">

<img src="http://www.geocities.com/artttsupplies/easl_fr2.jpg" alt="inside and underneath." width="350" height="142" border="0">

taking the url out of one of these links do bring up the image.

I'm wondering if Amazon wont allow links from Geocities or if i'm just worrying too much about a glitch. But with 9 out of 12 auctions not even making it up , with or w/o images, I'm wondering if Amazon is worth the trouble.

This is work related anyways, and I'm home now so I'm not going to worry anymore about it til tommorrow morning.

Thanks for your quick help.
