I just received 3 packages that were returned to me with address unknown. One was heavy. Then I had another one last week return a video that was factory sealed but she opened it and viewed it and decided she didn't like it and returned it to me without even asking. Does Amazon do anything about these? I did call on the returned video and was told I could do whatever I wanted since she didn't follow the rules. I am getting tired of paying for postage. Does everyone just eat it or do you get the customer to pay for it?

That's the problem if you sell a lot of items on a regular basis. Those 1% of bidders who are complete nasty idiots do stuff like this!
Once they've paid for it and I've shipped it the mission is complete. If I've screwed up somehow then I'll make it better than good. If they want to act as if they are in a high end dept store I ignore them.
If they want to leave feedback then it's up to them. If I like their FB then I'll reply to it and if they leave crap FB then I'll reply to that too.
Do you realize how many genuises out there leave 4's on Amazon???
And I know a lot of folks would consider me a horrible seller but time is money and when you have thousands of listings live all of the time you unfortunately get more goofs than greats!
Whew! That was a nice vent. I feel better....yeah, I'll go list some more videos!

I use to regularly eat shipping costs on returns and exchanges. now, all my listing descriptions and emails state
"If you are unhappy with the item(s) purchased from us for any reason
you may return the item(s) to us within 10 days for a refund.
WE DO NOT REFUND SHIPPING COSTS."
fortunately, I rarely have to replace or refund. In fact, I have not had to enforce this rule since I implemented it - perhaps, we are lucky or it may be that our terms have made it less appealing to return. I think the important thing is to make sure you are clear with your terms before the buyer buys.
I will say that in some cases I would refund shipping costs or eat shipping costs for exchanges if it is clear that I goofed.

I should have made myself clearer--these are all Marketplace items. I don't believe I can just invoice to collect additional monies for packages and I can only refund the entire amount. If there is a way of getting around it, please let me know as I still find Amazon a bit confusing. Most customers just think I am Amazon and their mentality is that if Amazon is willing to re-ship the package then I should too.

I have not tried this myself. One of the other sellers on Amazon said that she had listing a Z Shop listing for return postage. When a Marketplace buyer wanted to return an item, she instructed them to pay her postage costs, then she issued a refund. When she knew something was coming back and had been in communciation with the buyer, she also said she wrote them that a refund would be issued if they tucked a check for the postage into the return package. You can probably find her thread on the Amazon boards. Her name was Joanne's Books.
