Hi folks:

I hate to ask an old question, but I was wondering if any Canadian sellers have had problems using a US-based p.o. box as their mailing address for use with Amazon Payments? I've written Amazon to ask this same question and they say the US address must be a physical street address and not a p.o. box. Going back through some old messages, I've read that some of the Canadian sellers who have succesfully set-up an account with Amazon Payments are currently using a box number. So now I'm totally confused.

I live near the border and would like to hear from Canadian (or international) sellers who are currently using a box number as their US address. I'm sure it can be done, but I'm wondering if there are any little details I'm missing. This is the only issue which is hindering my decision to take the trip and open a US account, etc. I don't want to waste my time if Amazon is going to reject my application.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you're worried about a PO Box try using Mailboxes etc. That way you'll have a physical address and they can forward mail and packages for you.

I have heard that people use the physical address of the post office and #xxx as if it were an apartment. Amazon does not send anything by mail anyway so you should be all right.

Your one click settings will not allow a P.O. Box as a shipping address if the bank or credit card you have on account with amazon is shows your home ( phsyical ) address as the Billing address and vice versa.

I am in the US, cannot set my one click or member profile with my PO box because my banks billing address is different.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input in this matter.

From the comments I've been reading, it seems there's no problem with P.O. boxes so long as the bank account is registered to the box, as well as the billing credit card. Why then is Amazon saying we need a physical address?

In response to Zazzie...when you applied for Amazon Payments, did you use the physical address of the post office as Valeriet has suggested, or did you just enter the box number?

It looks like these are the steps I must take to be accepted:

1. Obtain a US P.O. Box
2. Open a US chequing account, including Visa/Mastercard chequing card, billed directly to the box.
3. Change current billing credit card on Amazon to the new Visa/Mastercard chequing card
4. Apply for Amazon Payments

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this process. Something that comes to mind regarding this whole issue is how many new (and old) subdivisions no longer have delivery of mail to a 'physical' address. Some, whether in Canada, the US, or anywhere, only have a box number. So is a US citizen with a box number and all accounts billed to a box denied access to Amazon Payments as well?

Zazzie appears to have done it successfully, and I assume he/she is outside the USA. Anyone else, internationally or in the USA using P.O. boxes successfully under Amazon Payments?

Val and watafind are your best resources on the info you want. They dont bite, they Want You to sell or buy in Amazon.

If you are buying and are from a non US destination it is best to contact the seller before you pay.

I bought something the other day on Amazon, paid with Amazon.com payments and my PO Box was accepted. My PO Box is not my billing address either. This was my very first purchase on Amazon. After all the comments about not accepting PO Boxes, I was surprised that I could have my PO Box as a shipping address - this is true!
