So far I've only sold on Amazon via marketplace, and I just signed up for the Merchant account. So far, so good.
My question for you experienced sellers is, when do you list books solely on zshops vs. Marketplace? Never? Ever? Are there particular items you only list on zshops?
I like the Marketplace exposure, but feel their shipping prices are too high. If I put stuff in zshops with my own shipping quotes, would I still get sales, or is there just less exposure? I don't think most Amazon users are sophisticated enough to compare Marketplace and zshops listings to see which have cheaper shipping, but I could be wrong.

I usually list my books in Marketplace if there is an ISBN for them. Now with the preorder option for buyers, you can often sell a book within hours of listing it. However, if my book is the only one available, I will often just place it in my zShop with a link to the Amazon page. I'll also do that if the Amazon page has absolutely no information about the book, in which case my zShop page describes the content of the book.
I just hope the customer searches using the All Products option. In a good week my zShop sales make up 10% of my sales, but I usually sell less. They definitely don't get the exposure, and customers aren't that savvy in navigating Amazon.

there was a time and that time was not that long ago,a savvy shopper can scroll down on the book detail page and find the zshop book listing for less.
but there are so many marketplace sellers now ,a customer does not have to scroll down to look at zshop sellers, there are just so many marketplace sellers offering the same title for less, and less and less.
