If the Ebay Police were smart, they would offer to erase listing fees and/or FV fees to those sellers/bidders who were smart/dumb enough to turn in fellow offenders. I don't know/care!

I think it sucks and I will never be involved in turning others in. That is ebays job to find the bad guys, not mine.

They just want Free peasant worker bees.

Things may get a bit confusing here.

Are they offering any incentive to buyers/sellers to do this? I doubt beyond the few people who would report this type of thing anyway, few will pay Ebay's request any attention. Ya know, don't ask, don't tell! I would personally NEVER tell on a fellow Ebayer for offering me something or trying to buy something from me. Even for a free Ebay coffee cup (sneer).

I think eventually, if eBay is successful in it's endeavors, there will be the eBay-Statutes. A legal platform of laws and penalties for eBay members. Multiple "criminal" offenses like trying to be "too" independent and daring to claim ownership of our own merchandise and businesses, will result in "eBay-Arrests". The penalties will be automatic and sent down through automated email "canned-verdicts". A live web-cam will be placed on top of our monitors and a strict dress code will be enforced. We will have to sit at the computer all day long and put up our merchandise for auction with no reserve and "only a dollar" starting bid. We will be fitted with an anklet that will notify eBay if we try to leave the house. This will be a much safer environment for all of us, and we will all be protected from ourselves. It's the natural order of things.

Ray, you forgot something. We will be required to purchase at least TWO of the auction enhancements and we'll also have an appropriate ICON next to all of our listings that lets everyone know our "jail" status - maybe a picture of a jailhouse. Of course, it goes without saying that we can only use BillPoint as a third party payment option as well as being allowed to only use eBay's picture hosting service.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure these requirements are that far fetched!!

A jailhouse icon. I like that. Maybe eBay will take a tip from Paypal: When you win an auction featuring a jailhouse icon, the seller must ship immediately, but you don't have to pay for at least 60 days.
