They are free because they really aren't that useful. Anyone with a little bit of Visual Basic knowledge could write an e-mail front end and web browser using the MSHTML.DLL
vrane.com has utilities for sellers that are truely useful.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of vrane. Love their stuff. But I don't think they have anything that does what this guy's stuff does.
Most of us don't know how to use VisualBasic, as far as I know. Just because the stuff wasn't be very hard to make Ifor a programmer) doesn't mean it isn't useful. My brother is a programmer and he says Napster is a really "dumb" program, in the sense that it would have been really easy to make - the guy who made it just happened to think of it first.

Okay, program #1, BayCheck:
What does this do that you can't do on eBay? You can just make links in your browser and plug in the user ID. Not useful at all.
Program #2, BayMail:
This is a tool for spamming, and if you look at the e-mail content, the author is implying it can be used to contact non-high bidders to backsell. More SPAM, yuck!
Program #3, FeeFinder:
This something even a basic spreadsheet can handle. Can't believe it is being sold for money.
